CentOS 5, gnome-screensaver and password amnesia?
I've built some CentOS 5.5 64-bit systems straight off the DVD, full
installs, and the Gnome screen lock (manually invoked or automatically
via the gnome-screensaver) does not allow the user to unlock the
screen. The only fix appears to be ctrl-alt-F<1 - 5> then have the
user log into the tty session, type pkill -f gnome-screensaver, log
out, then ctrl-alt-f7 to return to X.

Centos6: how to debug suspend?
I have a desktop installation with Centos 6. A lot works fine, but
suspend to ram or disk does not work from the KDE menu.
If I choose suspend to RAM, the screen goes dark (black-light on) but
nothing further happens. I can give my password to remove the screenlock
and continue. But the machine stays on. Obviously the suspend has failed.
If I use pm-suspend (as root) all works fine. I've

pam_winbind.so user expired password config for Solaris /etc/pam.conf
I'm trying to configure my Solaris 9 pam.conf for CDE login/password
expiration using
ADS security on W2003. If my AD account password is in good standing,
my config works great in /etc/pam.conf. However - I'm having trouble
getting it to recognize that my password in AD has expired to ask me
to reset it on the CDE screen. With the config below - it just tells
me "login

R via ssh login on OS X?
I have an ssh only login to a G5 on which I am hoping to run some
analyses. The situation is complicated by the fact that the computer's
owner is away for the summer (and thus also only has shell login).
R is installed and there is a symlink to /usr/local/bin/R but when I
try to launch it I get:

kernel bug nouveau, total system hang, X crashed
...I was
running fine for a long time with no problems. Today with openSUSE 12.3
(KDE 4.10.3, Xorg 1.13.2, upgraded on Jun. 10), my machine hung
completely. I believe the nouveau driver is at fault rather than KDE or
X, so chose this list. I think it might have been triggered by the
"Clock" ScreenLocker (screen saver). It happened twice so far.
I'm not on the list, so please CC me.
Here is a snippet from syslog where some strange stuff begins (while I
am not using the computer):
