RMySQL, Solaris and getopt????
...to be in the standard libs on Solaris (I am on a campus network and use our network version of gcc compiler). In the RMySQL distribution, I see source code for getopt.c and getopt.h, but I don't understand what to do with them. I tried "gcc -c getopt.c -o getopt.o" but it produced a screenfull of parse errors, etc. Anyone have suggestions on what to try? Thanks, Roggie Boone

F77_CALL, F77_NAME definition
I give up. Maybe it is my search (Windows) but I cannot seem to find the definition of the F77_CALL or F77_NAME macros. Either there are too many matches or the search just doesn't find it. For example where is the source for: F77_CALL(dpotri) ? Thank you. Kevin

NUT and Eaton UPS produce a lot of error messages
> 1) How do I make the nut-server and nut-monitor find the right pid files? They are there but it seems they can't be opened. Permissions are nut/nut. Actually, if the preceding lifetime of the service was a graceful stop, the exiting daemon should have removed its PID files. Then the newly starting one would check and not find them - as I wrote before - to make sure there is no hung old

Best practice thoughts: Model helpers, mocks
...ot;min_" methods are short for "minimum", and are there to give me the minimum set of data that will pass validation for that model. The "obj.send" code is to reduce the length of the data output when RSpec compares expectations to results... A lot of my mocks were several screenfulls long which sucks. I''ve also started adding code that takes the attribs I define for the mock_ method and stubs out :setter= methods too. Am I going down the right path here? (If so, I have a text mate snippet that creates this stuff pretty quickly I can share) module RenewalSpecHelper...
