Troubles joining a samba 3.0.1rc1 + LDAP domain
...mething about incorrect password length, but I checked that my passwords are encrypted and I can access shares as the root user so I know my password and user is working. Any ideas on this? How can I get samba to give me better logging so I can figure out exactly what is going wrong. Thanks, schu

Problems using security=server for windows 2003 client.
...d the password", but I know it works fine because I can connect from smbclient or windows 2000 clients. I can't figure out why "security = server" fails when the windows 2003 server tries to make a connection, but works for other clients. Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks, schu

Re: QemuDomainObjEndJob called when libvirtd is started and libvirt insists qemu is using the wrong disk source.
...r perhaps his comment got removed. If it does indeed work on the Redhat packages then that seems to indicate that there is something that doesn't work when libvirt is built on non-redhat systems which may be related. Let me do some more digging and I'll back back to you tomorrow. Thanks! schu

Another problem I am having is I want to use the info dtmf mode, but the sip packet that asterisk sends does not announce info in the Allow string. Adding a parameter to a custom Puppet type/provider
Hi All, I''ve downloaded a Puppet module and I''m trying to add a parameter to it by editing lib/puppet/type/<resource>.rb. I simply added: newproperty(:pcfree) do desc "My description here" end In the corresponding file in lib/puppet/provider, I do something with :pcfree. Whenever I call the resource from Puppet with my new parameter, it keeps

How do you handle deleted nodes with exported resources in this situation?
I have an issue where for a file type of an exported resource I must define as such: force => false, replace => false, Meaning the file is created, but do not replace after it''s added. I do this because of the app modifies the config file after (I know bad idea on their part). How can I ensure this file is removed when I remove the node from

QemuDomainObjEndJob called when libvirtd is started and libvirt insists qemu is using the wrong disk source.
.../qemu/wasdev.log 2235 /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 /glustervol1/vm/wasdev/wasdev.qcow2 The reason is because a blockcommit --active --pivot doesn't work, I blockjob --abort, then try again, it works the second time, but then the disk is wrong. Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, schu

Odd syslinux problem booting 2.6.7 kernel
....4.25 Disk: SanDisk SDCFB-16, CFA DISK drive (16MB CF disk) Motherboard: Whistle Interjet Additional notes: slow and safe (-s) doesn't resolve this While it is possible that this isn't a syslinux problem I figured I would start here first since the kernel image is not changing. Thanks, schu

Can samba hide symlinks?
...auses veritas to throw a fit. What I would really like here is to just not show symlinks in this share. That would eliminate the data from being backed up twice where there is a symlink, and it would also never return 'access denied' which would make veritas not suck as much. Any ideas? schu

Which package/function for solving weighted linear least squares with inequality and equality constraints?

The nnls-function may would be a possibility BUT: The solving is constrained with a inequality that all unknowns are >= 0 and a equality that the sum of all unknowns is 1 The influence of the equations according to the solving process is

Student-t distributed random value generation within a confidence interval?
Dear R-users! I?m faced with following problem: Given is a sample where the sample size is 12, the sample mean is 30, and standard deviation is 4.1. Based on a Student-t distribution i?d like to simulate randomly 500 possible mean values within a two-tailed 95% confidence interval. Calculation of the lower and upper limit of the two-tailed confidence interval is the easy part. m <- 30 #sample
