[LLVMdev] Use perf tool for more accurate time measuring on Linux
...mprovement compared with timeit tool. http://parkas16.inria.fr:8000/ Patch is updated to pin the process to a single core, the readings are even more accurate. It's hard coded to run everything on core 0, so don't run parallel testing with it for now. The tool now depends on Linux perf and schedtool. I'm running tests on ARM Cortex boards to verify the improvements. Please also check if this works on your system. err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection on Mac OS X 10.5.7
...a while i get such a message: err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x69e008 "?" wait timed out in thread 0009, blocked by 001b, retrying (60 sec) and the Program just freezes. Now i've found mentions in the appdb that this is a multiprocessor problem and can be fixed by using schedtool under linux. My Question now, can i do something on Mac OS X, like e.g. compiling wine to only use one Core or some tool to schedule similiary under OS X? Thanks in advance guys.

[LLVMdev] Use perf tool for more accurate time measuring on Linux

That would seem even better to me, but data would be better. =] That's an interesting idea. However I'm concerned if that will miss some aspects of compiler optimization. For example frequent cache misses would have much smaller

Hi, I can't get it to work in ubuntu Karmic with wine 1.1.38. $ wine fallout2.exe fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x32ef24,0x00000000), stub! fixme:dinput:SysMouseAImpl_Acquire Clipping cursor to (0,0)-(640,480) fixme:dsalsa:IDsDriverBufferImpl_SetVolumePan (0x1669e8,0x168130): stub It shows the begin screen then switches to a blue, bigger window, then it returns to the shell.

Running wine on multiprocessor
Hi, What would I need to do to make wine run LotrO on just one core, or How do I set it to use both to test if that helps?

Bug#535562: logcheck runs at normal I/O priority, and is hard-coded to nice -n10
...batchy" job, but currently runs at normal I/O priority, and is hard-coded to run with a niceness of 10. As a result logcheck can degrade interactive performance on machines with a lot of log traffic, relatively slow CPU or expensive I/O. It'd be useful if the "ionice" and "schedtool" utilities could be used to provide more fine-grained control of the CPU and disk I/O priority of logcheck (e.g. default to "idle" or "batch" priorities). This could be configurable using the debconf mechanisms. If this is accepted as a bug, I can try and work on an accep...

world of warcraft drops to 1 FPS after runing for a while
...al realm (5) leave it there at the character selection menu (6) switch to another virtual desktop, and browse the web for a couple minutes (7) go back to wow, and notice that the graphics are very choppy (8) log into some character and see FPS is very low (1 FPS or so) I've tried using schedtool to set processor affinity, and scheduling priority. This doesnt affect my problem. Can anyone suggest a method for debugging this problem? Is there a way to see if hardware GL is currently in use? Does wine/WoW detect loss of mouse focus and try to reinit GL? Thanks, -Truxton

Wine + World of Warcraft + Process Affinity
So, here's the deal, I got 4 core cpu and I can't utilize it's power :( WoW has problems with detecting multicore cpus under wine, there is a patch, but it is a bit unstable (so by default it works like on single core cpu). My system monitor shows 120% of cpu usage with 100% on first core and rest divided between 3 other (while "wine" process is using around 20% of cpu in

System Stutters/Skips with wine Under Load
Hello. I am hoping someone can help with a problem I am having. I am running the Windows folding at home client through wine. This app is very load intensive and performs many scientific calculations. It consumes 100% of all six cores in my system. However, I run it with a "nice" level of 19 so that it only uses idle cycles. Unfortunately, with this setup, my system consistently
