Schafer's CAT for MI
Hi Folks,
Fernando Tussell and I have been working on an R package of Shafer's
CAT software for S-plus, for multiple imputation of categorical data.
A very first version of this ("0.0-1") now seems to work, in that blatant
bugs and segfaults seem to have been worked around.
It now needs some testing in the wild, so if anyone would like to have
a copy of cat_0.0-1.tar.gz to try out

Search for a usable pan manual
Hello,
I'm looking for a more descriptive manual/tutorial/paper for the pan package.
The provided manual and example do not contain any useful hints how to
specify a model with more than one variable and leaves several questions
unanswered. This also applies to the referred paper "Schafer: Imputation of
missing covariates under a multivariate linear mixed model."
Can anyone point me to appropriate ressources providing a more in-depth view
on this topic?

forward flag metadata
...s/:list
dovecot seems to add an 'a' flag to the filename.
Unfortunately this 'a' flag information doesn't seem to be given out by dovecot.
It's like it's write only.
Is it a bug that dovecot doesn't hand out the "forwarded" metadata?

Converting S-Plus Libraries to R
Dear all!
I'd like to do multiple imputation of missing values with s-plus libraries
that are provided by Shafer (http://www.stat.psu.edu/~jls/misoftwa.html). I
wonder, whether these libraries are compatible or somehow convertible to R
(because I don't have S-plus), so that I can use this functions using the R
Program.
I would be happy if you could tell me,

Asterisk and Broadvoice, no incoming voice
I just signed up for the BroadVoice service a few hours ago, but for
the life of me I can't get any incoming voice. The incoming
connection is fine as it rings my extension from outside, but I can't
hear anyone talking. Outgoing voice is working fine though.
I've been looking through the archives, but I haven't found a solution
to the problem yet. I even tried another router

As IDLE only seems to work well with epoll, I'm highly interested in resolving this crash.
My Linux kernel is version 2.6.14.2

If any other info would help, please let me know.
If any other test combinations would be helpful, I will try to do them ASAP.

conditional function definition?
Hi Folks,
What is the best way to avoid a function being read in
anew (and masking an exiting function) when a definition
of it has already been established in R?
Reason: Fernando Tusell and I are working up Schafer's 'CAT'
for R (basically done now, just needs some cosmetic tidying up).
This uses a function 'slice.index', present in S but not in
the versions of R we were working with at the time. So we put
in a definition (copied from R-help ... ).
However, it seems that slice.index is n...

sample R code for multiple imputation
Hi,
I have a big dataset which has many missing values and want to implement
Multiple imputation via Monte carlo markov chain by following J Schafer's
"Analysis of incomplete multivariate data". I don't know where to begin
and is looking for a sample R code that implements multiple imputation
with EM, MCMC, etc....
Any help / suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

missing values imputation
What R functionnalities are there to do missing values imputation (substantial proportion of missing data)?
I would prefer to use maximum likelihood methods ; is the EM algorithm implemented? in which package?
Thanks

It is written in S-Plus, and I would like to use it in R.
Any pointers most appreciated.

I am running R 2.1.0 on Mac 10.3.8, and three days ago I installed a
different package from source where installation involved gcc without
any problems, and nothing has changed since then. The packages I'm
trying to install are Joe Schafer's mix, norm, and cat.

What BIC is calculated by 'regsubsets'?
...late a BIC value that is
different from that returned by the function 'BIC'. The latter is
explained in the documentation, but I can't find an expression for the
statistic returned by 'regsubsets'.
Incidentally, both of these differ from the BIC that is given in Ramsey
and Schafer's, The Statistical Sleuth. I assume these are all linear
transformations of each other, but I'd like to know the 'regsubsets'
formula (so that I can develop a way to do all-subsets selection based
on the AIC rather than the BIC).
The following code defines a function that illus...

I'm assuming it doesn't like the spaces.
Any way around this?
Also, I don't see any way to support the seperate username and userid

Anyway to support this?
Thanks in advance.

analysis of multivariate normal (missing values)
Hi,
I could not find an R package for the analysis of multivariate normal
datasets with missing values. Prof. Joseph Schafer has created an S+ library
(norm) that does such type of analysis, which I now ported to R.
I guess that I should have asked here if there are other people working on
such project, before I actually ported it, but... If such package has not been
ported, I will upload the package (norm, original na...

hi all
i need some advice. i am a university lecturer and will be teaching a R
programming course next year. the course will be taught to second year
statistics students. the aim is to introduce them to programming. the
emphasis will be on solving real life consulting projects by using R. i
must still develop the course but if anyone has any suggestions on
