Using cdrecord on CentOS
...n Carla Schroder's "Linux Cookbook". Unfortunately,
some of the tricks and hints included in the book don't seem to work the
same way on a standard CentOS 5 install.
1) Am I supposed to be root to use cdrecord and burn an .iso file?
2) How do I specify a device? 'cdrecord -scanbus' doesn't seem to work.
Say my CD burner is /dev/hdc, would 'cdrecord dev=/dev/hdc' be the
correct way to address it?
Cheers,
Niki

DVD Burner
I've purchased an LG DVD Burner (GSA-E60L) External super Multi DVD Rewiter
for my PE2950 Dell Server attached via USB.
Can someone guide me to set up the DVD with Linux, and which tools should I
use to burn DVD?

How do I burn a CD image under CentOS?
Newbie question (again):
I'm running CentOS 4.4 (2.6.9-42.0.8) and have not been able to burn an
ISO image of a 3rd party driver to my CD burner. cdrecord generates this
and I'm not sure where to go on this from here:

Hello all:
I am using exactaudio copy (EAC) with wine on linux (suse 10.1)

How to configure CD-RW in CentOS for cd burning using cdrecord
Dear all,
I am using CentOS 4.4 Version Now.I want to Burn multi session CD using
commands "mkisofs" and "cdrecord" on command prompt.
I don't know how to configure the cdwriter(Samsung)?
I am able to find the device using "cdrecord -scanbus" but when I want to
get next track of already written cd using "cdrecord -dev=X.X.X -msinfo",
system displays error and I am unable to get the next track.
Previously, I was using Red Hat Linux 7.2, for that I have configured

Problems with SATA DVD+-RW drive
I just got a Dell Dimension e521 (AMD 64 x2, nVidia MCP51 chipset) and
so far it has been fine. Today I tried to burn some CD-R and DVD-R
disks and have been able to do nothing but make coasters. The drive is
a TSST TS-H653a (Samsung OEM) and does have the current firmware.
Playing back data, audio, and video disks work just fine, but recording
is a different matter.
The drive shows up as

CF to SATA adapters for boot device
Has anyone here had any luck using a CF to SATA adapter?
I''ve just tried an Addonics ADSACFW CF to SATA adaptor with an 8GB card that I wanted to use for a boot pool and even though the BIOS reports the disk, Solaris B95 (or the installer) doesn''t see it.
I might give the IDE version a go (I really wanted hoT-plug), otherwise I''ll be able to store a couple of thousand
