Unfortunately, some of the tricks and hints included in the book don't seem to work the same way on a standard CentOS 5 install. 1) Am I supposed to be root to use cdrecord and burn an .iso file? 2) How do I specify a device? I just got a Dell Dimension e521 (AMD 64 x2, nVidia MCP51 chipset) and so far it has been fine. Today I tried to burn some CD-R and DVD-R disks and have been able to do nothing but make coasters.
