...se there is no state saved between calls from shoutcast. In ices, all program state can be maintained in memory.) The reason I am opening up this issue again is because it appears that shoutcast has introduced a relay mechanism in their calendaring facility (see http://www.shoutcast2.com/stream/sc_trans/) - A new type of event as been added to the calendaring system that allows you to relay other stations. (see calendarxml.txt for more information) in calendarxml.txt it says: 3.3 Relay Events ------------------ This allows you to make use of the relaying support withi...

Icecast Shoutcast Darwin Oddcast Questions
...le that I recently published regarding my usage of the software... I have a couple of questions I'm wondering if you can help me with... (1) Is there a version (any version) of a streaming source feed for Linux that behaves correctly with the Shoutcast directories (yp.shoutcast.com) beyond SC_TRANS from Nullsoft? I'm running Oddcast/Winamp3 into a Linux version of the Shoutcast Server but it doesn't seem to recognize the metadata correctly. Ices2? (2) As mentioned above, SC_TRANS seems to be the only viable Shoutcast-friendly streaming system. Problem is, it seems to only like...

Higher quality narrowband streaming options
...ccessfully used it to turn around streams as MP3 and Ogg Vorbis. It's also meant to support AAC and AACPlus, but I've not managed to figure out how to enable this under Linux or how I would particularly get it to be able to do AACPlus. I considered going so far as to try Nullsoft's sc_trans v2 to encode AACPlus, but it seems it cannot connect to an existing stream and relay it, it can only have a stream connect to it. I don't see how I can get our existing Icecast stream to be relayed to sc_trans as Icecast does not do push relaying, so this option would appear to be out. I...

Shoutcast directory listing?
I don't see that Nullsoft can do anything about it if Icecast was modified to update the SC directory exactly emulating SC Server. We would then utilize Icecast server for all our hosting, which is much more flexible. But our customers cannot do without being listed on the popular SC directory. Currently we have about 98% SC servers and 2% Icecast. -----Original Message----- From:

playlist generator
Hi, I've been doing some scripts to generate playlist through some rulesets They are written in php, but run from the command line. I've used em with ices and sc_trans the script takes an xml configuration file with a list of folders, each with some priority, and makes a shuffled playlist with songs from higher priority folder having more chances to play than others. I put very high priority to an "Announcements" folder and get my announcements...

Keeping icecast + ices 2.X running on a strict schedule?
The server doesn't control the rate, the source does. Provided you aren't getting corrupt stream data (and it doesn't sound like you are), you don't have a server bug in this case. At a basic level, the server level takes the data that comes in from the source, buffers it, and sends it right back out the door at the rate at which it came in. It isn't entirely clear to me

Keeping icecast + ices 2.X running on a strict schedule?
...ld be rounding to the nearest second rather than measuring in milliseconds? My current approach is to calculate the track lengths by dividing the number of samples by the samplerate, resulting in a value measured in seconds with at least 8 decimal places. Nevertheless, for some reason a shoutcast + sc_trans setup handles this flawlessly. With Icecast + Ices, data is sent a good bit faster than it can be played. Even if the listener doesn't buffer and fall behind, refreshing after a couple of hours results in a pretty significant jump forward. From: brad at musatcha.com Date: Sun, 25 May 2014 22:48...
