Register into shoutcast directory
...r icecast dist
(version 2.3.0). This needs a pair of <listen-socket>
sections, one with the first port (TCP/IP) number, and
the second with port+1, of UNUSED ports. Make sure to
enable the <shoutcast-compat> flag in the second one.
This still needs you to run a Shoutcast server task
(sc_serv), of course, to register on their YP.
If this does not work, and I did end up doing this
myself: Make the Shoutcast server (sc_serv) be your main
'driver' for the icecast feed i.e. icecast will be the
relay and pull from your sc_serv. In this case, your
icecast xml config <relay> s...

lots of icecast help needed
Hi, I've been running Icecast on my server for over five months now and am
having lots of problems with it. I must have pulled out half of my hair on
this product, mostly due to lack of support. (I mean, have you ever gotten
an answer to your question at icecast.org?) I've tried it all: sc_serv,
Icecast, shout, ices, streamcast, liveice. I could greatly use any help.
I am using the latest Icecast (latest Ices, libshout and libshout-perl) from
CVS.
First, my server isn't being posted to yp.icecast.org or yp.shoutcast.com.

can't access admin webpages with N-1 listeners active
...the listener count gets up to 5 (which
equals N-1 (6-1) in our case), we can't see what is
going on.
When the (N-1)th listener drops off (back to 4 in our
case), we _can_ finally reach the admin pages.
Icecast2 seems to have no provisions for "reserved IP
addys" such as there is for sc_serv; I always make
sc_serv read a file with 127.0.0.1 in it "just in cases
like this".
Y'all dig? :) Might there be a fix for this somehow,
please? Should we set a higher <limit/clients> at the
top of the xml? (Changing that would require a kill,
too, wouldn't it)
Thank yo...

is there a way to insert 'description' for a relayed stream?
Hi,
When icecast2-server is relaying a non-icecast feed, is there any
way to add 'description' data to it?
This is a minor quibble but I don't see a way around this.
As my charts & discussion at Peercast.org's forum shows (pointed to
in my earlier posts here), we had to put sc_serv at the 'hub' of
the netcast feedpoint, mainly so we'd only encode once but
distribute many-places, but also so the AIM/ICQ/IRC info would show-
up at yp.shoutcast.com (no other open-source server seems to
support the icy-bits for AIM/ICQ/IRC data) and be propagated out to
relays/YPs...

subscription services on icecast2

I don't kow if anyone remembers myplay.com - but we basically built it
on top of icecast with smart access controls suitable for subscription
services. Sure, that was icecast v1.0 but it ultimately isn't that
different.
Of course... it still takes some time. The real work is all

Shoutcast directory listing?
I don't see that Nullsoft can do anything about it if Icecast was modified
to update the SC directory exactly emulating SC Server. We would then
utilize Icecast server for all our hosting, which is much more flexible.
But our customers cannot do without being listed on the popular SC
directory. Currently we have about 98% SC servers and 2% Icecast.

x-audiocast etc.
...e" header
correctly.. just not the song title. I'm sourcing from winamp 2.72,
Shoutcast Source DSP 1.8.0.
2. Is the icy header hack for song titles going to be fixed any time soon,
or ever? Virtues of x-audiocast aside, I'd like to see some kind of
backwards compatibility.. when sc_serv is the server, it manages to stream
the titles to the players fine.. whenever I enable this stuff in icecast,
the playback goes totally berserk.. screeching, hissing, popping, and
generally going out of sync all over the place.
