Sbmclient ( session request failed )
I just found out about this tool and am learning.
I'm running smbclient Version 2.2.5 on a Sun Solaris 2.8 server and want
to send a WinPopup to windows 2000, XP etc. users for different windows
users.
I use the following and receive the following: Do I have to conf
something in smb.conf?
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
csdev5$ smbclient -M dans.sbc.com -N
added interface ip=132.201.76.18

Can't open shares using netbios names
...92.168.2.104
and I get back the shares list.
I can mount a share using
mount -t cifs //192.168.2.104/public /mnt/testing
and then the share is mounted just fine
But, if I try to use the *names* then I get a very long delay and a
failure .... this does not work:
smbclient -L synology (nor does sbmclient -L //synology)
The Nautilus browser will let me browse into my workgroup, will list all
the servers ... but as soon as I double-click on one of the servers to
navigate into it, I get the same long delay and failure. The failure
usually is a timeout or has an NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED attached to...

Connection failed with smbclient
...lem is, the Samba server, using nmblookup can find _all_ systems, but
using smbclient can only connect to the Windoze systems listed in one
Oteima workgroup, but get a connection failed when trying to connect to
systems in the other Oteima workgroup.
I very methodically checked using nmblookup and sbmclient whether I could
see/connect to every system.
[root@appgen root]# nmblookup caja
querying caja on 192.168.5.255
192.168.5.42 caja<00>

Winbind problem
...:
# wbinfo -g
or
# wbinfo -u
I get a list of all the users and groups from OLDDOMAIN, and none of the
groups from NEWDOMAIN! Same thing is true when I use getent. Which makes
about zero sense to me... I had absolutely no error output when joining the
ADS Domain (NEWDOMAIN), from wbinfo, kinit, sbmclient or smbmount.
So, I went to the log file:

smbmount and 2215
...on.c:register_message_flags(220)
register_message_flags: tdb_fetch failed
===============================================================
I am totally stumped... My windows machines can still hit these shares, but I
cannot use smbmount.
I have tested this from several clients, with versions of sbmclient all the
way down to 2.0.7.
I have mounted shares from my other servers sucessfully -- it is just when
trying to mount shares from this one machine.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

No subject
...ot a samba configuration fully working on RH 7.0. I did a full
install as I have a lot of disk space for testing (8GB HD + 2x40GB HD).
It's running o a K6 II - 500 Mhz
Everything seems to be ok as I can create shares and the clients see the
files, and everything.
The thing is that using "sbmclient -L 192.168.0.10"
gives me an error:
SSL: Error error setting CA cert locations:
error:000000:lib(0):func(0):reason(0)
Just ignoring the error works ok, but I don't like error messages, as they
are always bad news.
Any suggestions.
