Missing grub functionality on CentOS 5
There's grub 0.97 on CentOS 5. The manual at http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/manual/html_node/index.html says it is for 0.97. However, it mentions for instance a program grub-set-default that is not present in grub-0.97-13.2. It also mentions grub.conf options savedefault and fallback. Are these available in the CentOS grub? I tried with savedefault and it does not create a /boot/grub/default as it should. So I have to assume that fallback isn't there either. The CentOS 5 grub is the same as the CentOS 4 grub and I would assume that it's the latest "...

problem installing xen kernel on Debian etch
I am currently running kernel 2.6.18-6-686 on Debian Etch 40r3. I am trying to install xen on it. I tried installing linux-image-2.6.18-6- xen-686, but when I restarted, it doesn''t boot instead shows a kernel panic. I ran #apt-get install linux-image-2.6.18-6-xen-686 and changed /boot/grub/menu.lst file to point to current xen kernel. While rebooting it showed kernel panic and

PV guest kernel location
Still new at this and was wondering if someone could give me some pointers. I have Xen 3.0.4 running great with 5 PV guests. I just followed setup instructions from a few wiki pages. But the one thing I noticed, is that the guest kernel is on the host. Below is the cfg file for my mail server guest. # -*- mode: python; -*- kernel = "/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.16.33-xen" ramdisk =

Crashing dom0 by unloading mISDN
Hi, I have a Fedora 7 xen system with a domU to which I have delegated via pciback two isdn pci cards. One is a HFC-S card, the other a AVM Fritz!Card Pci 2.0. In the domU I load mISDN drivers for the cards. The two cards are recognized and function well UNTIL I either decide to unload one or both of the card driver modules (hfcpci and avmfritz) or I decide to shut down the domU. At this

VLAN configuration
Hi to the ML. I''m new to VLAN configuration, and combining it to XEN is a bit difficult. I want to use VLAN because it''s possible to "arping" from a domU to an other, and VLAN looks like; the only solution to prevent that. May be I''m wrong if someone got a solution, I may be interrested. I''ve also tryed ebtables, but nothing to prevent arp

Looking for a RAID1 box
...handle a drive failure correctly either (since it's outside the scope of UEFI), so IIRC there's been some consideration in Fedora of dropping this support. And... I'm not sure if GRUB2 handles RAID 1 /boot fully correctly, for things where it writes to the FS (grubenv updates for "savedefault" for example). But, there's other issues with GRUB2's FS handling anyway, so this case is probably far down the list. I think that having RAID 1 for /boot and/or /boot/efi can be helpful (and I've set it up, definitely not saying "don't do that"), but has to be hand...
