POP3 connection issue & SASL not compiled in
...sting packages that were already there in the server a couple of years ago & well before I installed postfix & dovecot in this server. Wondering if they interfere with postfix sasl authentication. There's no issue with this postfix+dovecot box sending & receiving emails. postfix-dovecot-sasl help
I'm trying to set up SMTP authentication on my server and am getting an authentication failed error. My client is set up to automatically select authentication method and tries CRAM_MD5. The http://wiki.dovecot.org/HowTo/PostfixAndDovecotSASL suggests "passdb pam" and "userdb passwd" -- is it possible to configure sasl authentication using a dovecot.conf like

LDA, postfix and multiple virtual users : postfix is still the MDA
Hi, I have some trouble to use dovecot as MDA. I followed the instructions in http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA and http://wiki.dovecot.org/LDA/Postfix I have multiple virtual users, stored in a LDAP server, and it look like postfix is still delivering the mails directly to the maildirs. Dovecot version : 1.2.15 (using the 1:1.2.15-4 squeeze packets) postfix version : 2.7.1 (using the 2.7.1-1

Which sasl?
I'm trying to set up imap resources in kmail, and from the logs it looks as though I have to set up sasldb. I've found some documentation, but it seems that I need to know whether I'm using sasl or sasl2. How can I tell? I seem to have several packages installed that are returned with I query yum, and both versions get mentions. Anne
