pam and sasl2-sample-server failure
...I don't kow squat about troubleshooting pam. Any PAM wizzes
out there that can help? I saw a unrelated post talking about
something needing to be in the pam sasl group. Had no idea what that
meant. sasl ins't a user, or group.
I setup and try
saslauthd -m /var/run/saslauthd -a pam -d
sasl2-sample-server -s rcmd -p 8000
sasl2-sample-client -s rcmd -p 8000 -m LOGIN 127.0.0.1
If I set "-a shadow" it works. So I assume I have saslauthd working
at least.
But, if I set "-a pam" as listed above, it fails
I believe it may be a PAM issue, could be sasl, but I'm hop...

ASMTP setup on 4.8
Hello,
I'm trying to set up a sendmail server on 4.8 that supports auth-based
relaying. I followed the procedures at
http://puresimplicity.net/~hemi/freebsd/sendmail.html, and aside from
having to run makes manually in the library directories, I had no
difficulty. I did not use the rebuild world recommendation, though.
Everything is up and running, but whenever I try to send mail

Now I see where messages are in my maillog of the type:

Using dovecot sasl for authenticating in openldap
...henticating using dovecot-sasl. To keep passwords in one place I would like
to authenticate openldap users over dovecot-sasl.
So looking at this page:
http://www.openldap.org/doc/admin24/security.html
I figure it could be done using Pass-Through authentication.
For this, I need to create
/usr/lib/sasl2/slapd.conf
And adding a few config paremeters. This is a example
mech_list: plain
pwcheck_method: saslauthd
saslauthd_path: /var/run/sasl2/mux
I understand the mech_list parameter, but I have no Idea what to put in for the rest.
Any help?
Thanks!

Hello,
I'm having trouble to get saslauthd running on a centos-5.3. I can't

2) saslpasswd2 -c -a mail -u mail testuser
3) testsaslauthd -u testomat -p <mypassword> -s smtp -r mail
shell output of testsaslauthd:

virt-viewer-0.0.3-6ubuntu7.xul19 or virt-manager-0.8.2-2ubuntu8 to

instructions in the libvirt docs, created a keytab with
libvirt/my.fully.qualified.domain at MY-REALM.COM (has a dash fwiw) and
pointed SASL2 and libvirt at /etc/krb5.keytab (changing the location
of that doesn't seem to work for my version, but that'...

Which sasl?
I'm trying to set up imap resources in kmail, and from the logs it looks as
though I have to set up sasldb. I've found some documentation, but it seems
that I need to know whether I'm using sasl or sasl2. How can I tell? I seem
to have several packages installed that are returned with I query yum, and
both versions get mentions.

Configuring Samba with LDAP

I'm having problems configuring Samba to work using ADS. I've
successfully compiled LDAP. When I try ./configure --with-pam

Directory support requires LDAP support" Are there any variables that
need to be set? I've done --with-ldap=/usr/local/openldap (This the
prefix for openldap). I'm
