samba.spec
I am setting up a SuSe Linux Enterprise 8 server with samba ldap. SuSe comes
with samba 2.*.* rpm. I need to reconfigure samba to add --with-ldapsam, so
I need to remake the rpm, but i don't know where the samba.spec file is in
SuSe.
Also if any has been successfull setting up SAMBA LDAP, can you please send
me information on how to accomplish this.
Thank you

PDC without profiles?
Hi --
I'd like to try running Samba as a PDC simply for authentication -- that
is without doing any profile management, i.e. I'd like Windows to not
write anything to the network after logout. Is this possible with Samba?
I'm not seeing an obvious answer to this. Thanks!

Users not able to save doc. in home folder
Hi all,
hope everyone's evening is pleasant,
We have Windows XP client authenticating to a samba server. When users try to save their work to their home folders they get a message saying "the directory is full, check to make sure that it is not right protected or corrupt". I check the permissions and check the smb.conf file and everything looks ok. As a matter of fact it work fine

Worked examples?
I've been experimenting with Samba a bit. I won't claim to know a whole lot
about it, because I don't, and I'm even somewhat of a newbie when it comes
to Linux/UNIX. But I've been working with the worked examples that the HOW
TO docs describe on the website, configuring my smb.conf file as is stated.
I'm running Samba 3.0.14a-2 on Fedora Core 4, and I'm running into a

"ldap passwd sync" not working
Hi.
I've samba-3.0.11 now, installed from rpm on Redhat 9.0. Problem was
with 3.0.10 too. I don't exactly know when it was broken, because I
found it week ago.
I've samba as PDC with LDAP backend some time ago when user changes
password in windows or when password chenged with smbpasswd - LDAP
password of this user was changed too. Now LDAP passwords remains the
same as it was.

login scripts do not run
I have a simple script that sets the time on a Windows client at
startup.
The one-line script:
net time \\myhost /set /yes
Works perfectly well when I double-click it from Windows Explorer, so I
don't think the problem lies there.
The relevant lines in my smb.conf file:
[global]
time server = yes
logon script = smbtimeset.BAT
[netlogon]
comment = shared scripts

simple installation to get the hang of samba. I am able to join the
domain with root samba user, I created using swat, when I log in as that
user, in the home directory there are 2 other directories, bin and
desktop, I now that those directories should not be there because it's
the users home folder, I also installed
