Survey Design / Rake questions
I'm trying to learn how to calibrate/postStratify/rake survey data in preparation for a large survey effort we're about to embark upon. As a working example, I have results from a small survey of ~650 respondents, ~90 response fields each. I'm trying to learn how to (properly?) apply the aforementioned functions. My data are from a bus on board survey. The expansion in the

Question about Survey Package
To whom it may concern, I have a question referring to the calculation of variance estimation of the survey package I need to estimate the variance for different Domains but for a stratified sampling desing in several stages. Särndal et al (1992), CAP 10, makes reference to this problem. My question is if it is possible by means of "survey package" to obtain these

(svy)glm and weights question
Hi all, I am running a set of logistic regressions, where we want to use some weights, and I am not sure whether what I am doing is reasonable or not. The dependent variable is turnout in an election - i.e. survey respondents were asked whether or not they voted. The percentage of those who say they voted is much higher than the actual turnout, probably due both to non-response bias and social

Off-topic: (Simple?) Random Sampling when n is a random variable
Hi everyone, I'm involved in a discussion with a colleague. He suggested a sample design for a finite-sized process that (to all intents and purposes) involves tossing a coin and examining the unit if the coin shows Heads. I should emphasize that we're both approaching the problem from a design-based sampling theory point of view. So I have no argument about the appropriateness of the
