Random Effects Model
Hello,
I am new to R, and I am trying to figure out how to use it for a
random effects model. I am using version 2.4.0, and I also have the
book Applied Linear Regression by Sanford Weisberg.
I have four variables: Swimmer, Sex, Swim, and Difference. Swimmer
identifies the number assigned to a particular person. Sex is
male/female. Swim identifies the number swim from 1 to 6. Difference
is my variable of interest (random).
The book says I should run something like thi...

scoping problem
...doesn't work for two reasons:
1. The statement m1 <- update(m, ~.+I(predict(m)^2)) can't see 'm' in
the call to predict.
2. If in creating m missing values had been present, then predict(m),
even if it could be computed, could be of the wrong length.
Can anyone help?

SER and NAT
I have a really simple question about a fairly complex problem:
I have a Cisco 7960 behind a NAT. I have an Asterisk server behind
a different NAT. I have a SER server (with rtpproxy installed) on a
public IP adress. I've opened ports with static NAT to * and the
Cisco. Without using SER, I can register the phone to *, I can complete
calls, I just can't move audio. Reading the

Switchtower for distribution?
I am just about to dive into Switchtower, but had a thought (go
figure?).
Could Switchtower use be inverted?
Could user, clients, or customers install switchtower and "pull"
applications?
Just a thought.

2^k*r experimental design and anova
Hello,
Can anyone point me to an online tutorial or book containing the easiest way to do ANOVA over the result data from a 2^k*r experiment. It is not clear to me if I can pass the raw data corresponding to each experiment or just the summarized data i.e. mean, sse, std, etc.
I would like to get the:
- box plot showing the effect for the different factors and levels
- plot showing whether there

Riding the Rails to acquisition
Guys,
I think many of us on this list would consider ourselves entrepreneurs.
I''m willing to bet at least 40% of you are working on ideas for
startups...hoping that you just might have the next Flickr, Oddpost,
del.icio.us, etc.
Me too, for what it''s worth. Rails is good for this, in that it enables
you to move quickly (after the learning curve) and it''s
