Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
Hello,
Please excuse my (probably newbie) question, but:
Since RouterOS, MikroTik's proprietary OS, is largely based on GNU/Linux,
anyone knows a way to run tinc on a MikroTik device?
This would be in order to make an (imposed, no choice given...) MikroTik
device (say the B1100AHX4 router) to participate in a tinc mesh, in
interoperation with GNU/Linux machines.

Forcibly emptying a POP3 mailbox
Hello,
I've recently saw a discussion on this list, about a standardised way of
emptying POP3 mailboxes on the server - but no solution came up.
Please provide a suggestion for the following situation:
- I am running a stock POP3 dovecot server, on Fedora 12 (dovecot
version 1.2.9)
- passwd-file authentication via /etc/imap.passwd
- users are virtual, sharing the same UID/GID;

Bellow are the 2 straces. Hopefully this can shed some light over my

I can conduct whatever tests you want, this is my BDC machine and
secondary FS so it is not that critical.

tinc initialization (in both Red Hat and Debian families)
Hello all,
Thank you for tinc, that is an **excellent** and useful package!
Taking into account that both Red Hat and Debian (8.x) families now use
systemd, there is, IMHO, one small. but important correction to be done:
tinc's initialization.
IMHO, we need:
1. A proper tinc.service file, included by default (prepackaged) in the
stock .deb and .rpm packages in Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu,

Using glusterfs with an export directory on an non-POSIX attr enabled FS

It is paramount that the underlying FS supports xattr? If not, is there
a way to inhibit this dependency and use a volume created on /dev/shm?
Do I have any other options that would work with an export directory
located on a RAM based FS and not a disk one?
Best regards,
Sandu Mihai

Tinc + OSPF - is it feasible?
Hello,
Please tell me if it's possible to use tinc together with OSPF (instead of
static routes in LAN). By OSPF I mean Quagga's GNU/Linux daemon.
Namely, I have a group of LANs (private 192.168.x.0/24 each).
Each LAN has a GNU/Linux default gateway, 192.168.x.1, that also connects
to the Internet via a public IP address (does NAT and firewall for the LAN
"behind" it).

And it continues like this for a long, long time ....
Does anybody know whats wrong, or how can I fix this?
Thanks.

At initialization, each name should launch a separate tinc instance (a
different VPN)

Any way to run tinc on MikroTik routers?
...tunnels
- supposing I have two different tunnels to the same destination, I
can't imagine a way to route traffic between them (since in tinc
routing is fully automatic and elegant, point-top-point L2TP/IPSec is
very inflexible)

Logging subjects of messages
Dear Sirs,
I want to know if there is any possibility to log the subjects of the messages downloaded from ther server. We use dovecot 1.0.15 with POP3S and IMAP and we want to keep a trace of the reading of messages by the users of our mail server (who, when and what are the subjects of the? e-mail messages read) because some users complain that they did not read some messages but in the logs of

We use different options in smb.conf (oplocks, fake oplocks, kernel

We can corrupt the database in less than a minute !
Is there any known problem with MKDE ?
If so, is there a solution ?

Route cache
Hi,
I have a P4 @ 3Ghz router running Debian. It shapes traffic ( about
500-600 classes ), about 1000 iptables rules, and it does BGP too, so i get
about
1300+ routes in the routing table. The problem is the load is too high on
this system. I found a solution to my problem, turning off the route cache,
but i dont know how to implement it,
I was wondering if anyone found a way to disable the

[RFE] A way to encode passwords in the /etc/imap.passwd file
Hello,
Is this the proper place to suggest an enhancement for the stock dovecot
package ?
The enhancement would be the following:
For the time being, the dovecotpw utility offers a standardised way to
interactively encode a user password in a certain scheme, say:
dovecotpw -s CRYPT
Enter new passord:
Re-enter new password:
etc.
Given a *valid* /etc/imap.passwd file (passwd-file

A FAQ: is it mandatory to include the local IP address classes in the global VPN address class?
Hello,
Since the present tinc documentation is not very clear about this, please
explain the following: is it mandatory to include the local IP address
classes in the global VPN address class?
Namely, please consider the following setup (which works great in practice):
1. A tinc VPN, full mesh, with n nodes (n > 3)
2. tinc runs on the firewall, which is also the default gateway for each
