Unhandled exception launching games from Steam
...ned off and the gameroverlayrenderer disabled. As suggested on the Steam page here, I installed corefonts, vcrun2005, vcrun2008, and d3dx9; all using winetricks (Steam was also installed using winetricks). My distro is openSUSE 12.1 64bit.
Out of desperation I tried running a brand new game, the Sanctum demo. This has been confirmed working over at SteamGamesOnLinux, but all I get is nothing happening in Steam, and this when ran from the commandline:
Code:

Can I play any Win7 game on Linux?
...processor. I don't want any compromises in terms of what games I can play, but I can stretch about the top FPS. I can cope with having to learn command prompt. I just want compatibility.
I have Steam on my EEE PC and I want to run those games on my new, faster desktop PC, including Minecraft, Sanctum, Civ4, Crysis2, Battlefield2, any future maximum requirement game, the astronomy program Celestia, Google Earth with the graphics cards. I want to use Linux exactly for the same things as I'm using my Windows, if not exactly the same way.
I am ready to give up Win, as I've wanted to do si...

functions for special na handling?
...xample, the function i need (myfun) would do the following
> x <- ts(10,11.4,NA,12,9.7)
> y <- myfun(x)
> y
10 11.4 11.7 12 9.7
i can code an na.action method myself to accomplish this, but has someone else already coded routines
of this nature?
many thanks,
robert

winecfg hangs forever
I installed wine-0.9 from pkgsrc on NetBSD/i386 3.0. When I run
winecfg, it never finishes, but it outputs:

I see a number of wine processes:

R package classification
Dear list,
there are now >400 packages available on CRAN.
Would it be useful to classify these packages
according to what they do (e.g. classification,
graphics, spatial statistics), to assist the user in
finding the appropriate package for their problem? Or
perhaps the search facility is enough.
I would attempt such a classification, but my
knowledge of statistical methods isn't good

Some pre-RC1 listening tests
Hello everyone,
ff123 compiled Monty's branch of the RC1 encoder, see his post on
r3mix.net forum:
http://66.96.216.160/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=c&action=display&num=994299736&start=30
Anyway it only supports ~128kbps mode, so I did a quick listening
test with some files that bugged vorbis beta4.
grace.wav - the right channel is still a bit watery, and I think this
