Unix password sync problems with Linux - almost there
..., so the passwd
program is being called by root. When the passwd program I'm using is
called by root, it can set the password to anything with no
restrictions. Here's the log file with debugging set to 100:

change Active Directory Password with client tools (smbpasswd, net arp) ?
...SERNAME -U ADMINUSER
The command should print for the ADMINPASSWD of ADMINUSER and for the
new passwd of USERNAME,
who's passwd has to be reset.
net -S ADSERVERNAME -U ADMINUSER rap password USERNAME "" newpass

If I do an ethereal,
the answer of ADSERVERNAME is
SAMOEMCHANGEPASSWORD (214)
Status: the specified password is invalid (86)
Is it possible to change a userpasswd as admin with the client tools
without knowing the old password

HELP! Problem synchronizing samba and NIS+ password on Solaris

can't
seem to be able to change the password, not from Unix issuing the smbpasswd
when
logged in as the user, nor from the Windows 98 PC.
The debugging trace as a result of issuing "smbpasswd" when done by the
user
himself returned the following messages in the log:

Unix password sync: Any hints?

Here's the section of the logfile I get a level 100. The username has
been changed to "foo", and the new password to "h@mh0ck". The
problem seems to lie in the empty response buffer for response 3.
