samba 3.0.22 default ACL issue
...C on Debian with workstations under windows XP SP1 and SP2. I use ACLs to have a fine grained access rules. When I copy a directory from a client to a samba share, default ACLs are forgiven. exemple : after I copy the directory A on the samba share : getfacl A/ # file: A/ # owner: user1 # group: sambausers user::rwx group::--- other::--- default:user::rwx default:group::--- default:other::--- But the parent directory has default ACLs, I can prove it : getfacl . # file: . # owner: user1 # group: sambausers user::rwx user:root:rwx user:bacula:r-x group::--- group:sambaguests:rwx group:User_Standard:rw...

Access to share is denied for groups on samba 3 - ADS
Hello everybody, I have a Samba 3.0.7-Debian setup and joined an ADS-domain. I want to share a directory, but only an explicitly set "valid user" can access the share. It should be accessible to "sambausers", but that doesn't work. I can also logon as ADS-user on the samba box and get a shell. In smb.conf: [p] comment = Documents path = /home/samba/p read only = No valid users = @"ADSDOMAIN\sambausers" # valid users = @"LIHH\SambaUsers" (doesn't work either) # valid...

root preexec script runs twice
Hi. I'm tesing Samba 3.0.7-a on Debian Sarge with Debian kernel 2.6.8. I am working on auto-creation of logon scripts, & am using a root preexec on the netlogon share for this. In testing I have passed the user ID to the script, and have used echo to test output. The netlogon service parameters and other info are below. The output from the script occurs twice in the output file,

Group file ownership...
We have a Red Hat 7.3 file server that serves about 30 Windows PCs via Samba 2.2.3a. I have one group called "users" that everyone is in but when a file is created by a PC, the group ownership on the created file is not "users", but the same as the file owner name. Is there any way to force the group ownership of created files? Also, is there any way to force file

explorer.exe crashes on security tab access
The same thing happen if the group on a file is wheel or any other unix group. I also now observed that this also happens to unix users that are not mapped in idmap.ldb. For example: # useradd myunixuser # touch myfile # chown myunixuser myfile # chgrp SAMDOM\sambauser myfile alos crashes explorer. / Kacper On Thu, Aug 16, 2018 at 8:55 PM, Rowland Penny via samba < samba at

I turned on debugging and I could see the request being made, and I noticed that the unix account was being created, but the smb b...
