I was upgrading from samba-4.7.5 so it wasn't a huge version jump. I am also unable to downgrade, the source4/scripting/bin/sambaundoguididx script core dumps without producing any messages so I can't downgrade either (serves me right for not taking a backup first).

...h the older Samba version but isn't overwritten as it didn't exist in the older version. However I also need to write up about the GUID index change, which also prevents in-place downgrades. It seems I forgot to mention that in the WHATSNEW. (That requires running source4/scripting/bin/sambaundoguididx before any downgrade in-place from 4.8 to 4.7 and below). Hi: I tried to use samba 4.8.1/4.8.2 to join windows domain as DC. and saw warning message like "Unable to determine the DomainSID, can not enforce uniqueness constraint on local domainSIDs" I didn't get that message when using samba 4.7.7. is the message safe to ignore? the complete join message below: [root at samba-dc ~]# /usr/local/samba/bin/samba-tool domain join
