network extremely slow
...till could be much better).
I know this is some kind of question: 'my car dont work. why ?', but
maybe someone could give me some hint to hunt this problem down. If
the clients (all clones) are the problem, why is server->nt and
nt->server so much faster than nt->nt ?
can it be a sambaproblem at all ?
logfiles dont tell anything unusual.
any advice appreatiated,

file open problems
Hi. am running a samba server version 3.0.5 on a gentoo linux machine,
kernel 2.6.7-gentoo-r8.
the client is a windows XP machine.
the PDC is a windows NT 4.0 machine.
this is my smb.conf:

Samba problem
Hi,
I have a problem connecting my Windows98 to the Samba server.
The Linux computer comes up in the "Network Neighborhood" control panel,
but when I double click on the icon, W98 asks for a password for the
"\\machine name\IPC$" resource.
But my password will not me accepted. I have logged in as user "root"
with
a given password on both computers.
When I set
