Hello
I have installed Redhat Linux 9 and Samba 3.0.2a from the Source.
I have two Win2003 server for the domain "sambadomain.local":
PDC: rootserver

DNS-Master: dnsserver
10.10.1.2 Subnet 255.255.0.0
Runs also dhcp and wins
I made the references to these two Servers (DNS, DHCP) in my Linux-Server.

Why (&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE))?
I have a member server that is constantly querying the LDAP server with -
(&(objectClass=sambaDomain)(sambaDomainName=SARDINE))
- when security=domain and workgroup=backbone. The server DOES authenticate
domain users, and everything seems to work, but this draining resources.
This is RH9, Samba 3.0.3pre2 (although I'm pretty certain I saw this on 3.0.2)

Samba 3.025 wbinfo checking the trust secret via RPC calls failed
I have compiled Samba 3.0.25a from source on a Solaris 10 machine. I
had previously been testing Samba 3.0.24 (from packages on
www.sunfreeware.com) and have reused the smb.conf file. Otherwise
this is a clean setup, not an upgrade.
The server is configured as a PDC for my domain "SAMBADOMAIN"
I created a samba password for the local root and administrator accounts.
I joined the server machine to its own domain
pdc# net join sambadomain -U root

How to fix wrong SIDs
I am operating a PDC samba server running version 4.1.6-Ubuntu with an
OpenLDAP backend. Due to problems during the upgrade to Samba4, I needed
to recover the users and groups from a backup. Now, I ended up with 2
different entries for sambaDomainName: one is my real domain, the other
is just named "sambaDomain". I suppose that the latter comes from the
clean samba install I did during upgrade. The 2 domains have different SIDs.
Now, the problem is that some users (root) and groups (Domain Admins,

Samba + ldap + cannot find domain
So this got me thinking that maybe a chunk of my problem is with LDAP itself on the server. Executing "slapcat" shows me what I believe to be the correct content, including what looks like appropriate content underneath the following:
dn: sambaDomainName=DRBHOME,dc=drbhome,dc=ca
That seems to answer the question about whether the domain info is actually there.

help - user password expiration in loop
Hi everybody,
I think i need a samba guru to solve this issue, because googling for
months did not help and the problem is becoming pressing.
I'm facing an annoying problem with samba. In detail, there is something
wrong with the password handling. It happens from windows, mac or linux
clients.
Randomly (probably after $num days), the system asks to the user to
change the password. After the

Issue with two domains in one LDAP tree
Hi,
I've just moved a second Samba domain to LDAP -- it works great! However, the
first domain is now dead in the water. It refuses to autenticate, and from
the logs it looks like it's not find the SambaDomainName entry in the LDAP
tree. Here is a diagram of how my LDAP tree is set up.

Failed to find sambaDomain object to get sambaAlgorithmicRidBase
The users are not part of an existing AD domain. The setup is rather
simple, I have to migrate all the users in a new environment. We need to
centralized authentication, the reason of LDAP, and access shares from our
Windows workstation. I hope I am clear enough regarding our setup.
