NTP and FreeBSD jails
FreeBSD-12.1p7 Samab-4.10.15 running in FreeBSD Jail I just wish to ensure that my conclusion respecting Samba, FreeBSD Jails, and NTP is correct. 1. Unless configured otherwise Windows domain clients will query and obtain their time from the samba_server DC. 2. Samba_server obtains its time from the OS, in this case a FreeBSD Jail. 3. FreeBSD Jails get their time from their host. 4. If the host is running ntpd then this has the same effect as if ntpd was running alongside the samba_server. Is this reasoning correct? -- *** e-M...

W2KSP2 vs W2KSP2RP1 - failed logon to Samba 2.2.6
...w of W2KSP2RP1.rus. All workstations can logon to samba 2.2.5. After: W2KSP2.rus can't login to samba 2.2.6, though W2KSP2RP1.rus still can logon to PDC on samba 2.2.6. W2KSP2 tells me, that it can not find profile, but continue to work with default local profile. Profiles of users located in \\samba_server\profiles\%u, home dirs located as usual in \\samba_server\%u. I try to solve this problem by rejoining W2KSP2 to the domain. But after workstation disconnection, it can not join to the domain. I try del all tdb files on server, but it not helped. But after I try to delete Client for Microsoft Netw...

Hi David, Configured as you mention, and prior with the other tweaks I had in the first place, Im getting the same results, which is "FSUTIL utility requires a Local NTFS Volume", and mapping it. I then went to contig, `contig -n X:\share\sparesefile 0`, as well as a few other size. Maybe im using it wrong, but some testing on contig has only "Access is denied" when I try

changing ldap passwords?
Samba experts, I am using Samba 3.0.8 on an AIX 5.1 system with ldap authentication. I have ldap working so that users can authenticate in their samba account via ldap. However, I am trying to figure out the best method for allowing users to change their ldap samba account password. What is the best method to allow end users to change their LM/NT passwords for Samba via LDAP? Should

Thanks for your assistance. The situation is this: I run our samba_server 4.13 DC in a FreeBSd-13.2 jail running on a 13.2 host. I have transferred a copy of that jail to a different host running FreeBSd-14.1 and reconfigured the network addresses assigned to the jail to avoid clashing with the existing, and running, samba DC. On the target host I have upgraded the tra...

How to delete an unwanted NS record
...;A|AAAA|PTR|CNAME|NS|MX|SRV|TXT> <data> >> same as above >> >> Mani >> >> >> > Close, but not quite correct, 'name=domain' should be 'name=@' > > Rowland The source of this problem arises from having multiple IPv4 addresses on a samba_server and not configuring smb.conf to only listen on the desired one. When this sever is joined to an existing domain all its address are added. I have not been able to remove the unwanted NS record using samba-tool. samba-tool dns delete localhost brockley.harte-lyne.ca. @ NS 192.168.216.162Password...
