Problems with netapp filers and Samba3.6
In some tests of moving from samba3.5 to samba3.6 I find that the netapp
filer don't recognize the groups of the users.
Anybody knows where is the problem?
Thanks.

Samba4 to replicate my samba3.6 config

I currently use samba to authenticate windows users to use our Linux shares using the unix groups as the valid users.
Here is the problem.
I can see the shares using samba 4 but it uses the "Domain users" group to write to the shares and not

Encrypted samba mount on Linux
Dear Team,
I am trying to use this option on RHEL-6.9(samba3.6) version while
accessing samba shares, but its not working??
Is this kernel specific or package specific also?
setup is something as this:

Samba4 not able to write to group writeable folder???
Hi...
With samba4 I sometimes feel like a bloody beginner even I use samba
since ages.
Miracle of the day: Users connecting using samba4 cannot write to group
writeable folders even they should be able to.
I upgraded one 3.6 fileserver to 4.2.3. PDC is always a samba 4.2.3
instance. I am using samba4 in classic PDC mode for a couple of reasons.
On my fileserver I have a folder called

hello folks,
all started with searching for an MS exchange server connector to fetch my

(OWA) but I'm not that satisfied, so I found OpenChange but that needs
Samba4 installed on my NAS.
So I was checking the Samba wiki and mailing archive but I'm bit confused.
There are several version available, plus franky, what

Encrypted samba mount on Linux
Thanks Steve for Quick response!!
*My question is*:
=> Accessing encrypted shares fully depends on kernel fix (as you
provided),
If no?
=> How can we use /etc/samba/smb.conf "smb encrypt = mandatory"
parameter to access encrypted shares? Because using this parameter I am
not able to access samba-shares either from windows/RHEL client
Thanks

vfs_commit question.
Hello,
I am looking to check out the performance impact of vfs commit for different threshold values. I downloaded samba3.6 for RHEL6 (http://www.enterprisesamba.org/samba-packages/red-hats-rhel/rhel-6/) and added the following settings in the smb.conf:
* vfs objects = commit
* commit:dthresh = 4K
Irrespective of dthresh value (4K, 64K, 512K) I don't see any performance

winbind not returning uid/gid
Really sorry to re-post but it looks like my thread has been buried and had
no responses.
I am using samba3.6 winbind to connect a RHEL5.8 linux box to a new Windows
Server 2012 Active Directory which has Unix Identity Mapping installed. So
I have all the
uidNumber/gidNumber stuff in the windows schema.
I am able to log in but I am not getting the right uid/gid. My AD uids start
at around 800.

Encrypted samba mount on Linux
CIFS or SMB3 mount (vers=3.0)?
I doubt that RHEL has backported the encryption feature in the kernel
client yet, but would be a good question for RHEL support.
