Installation test fails: 2.04b
...Samba-2.04b was installed from the rpm. I'm using Carter and Sharpe's "Teach Yourself Samba in 24 Hours" as my guide. On page 59, they suggest testing the installation to see if the shares defined in /etc/smb.conf are correct. Here is what I run and the results returned: [root@salmo rshepard]# /usr/bin/smbclient -L salmo -N Added interface ip=192.168.55.1 bcast=192.168.55.255 nmask=255.255.255.0 session setup failed: ERRSRV - ERRbadpw (Bad password - name/password pair in a Tree Connect or Session Setup are invalid.) What to do about "Network Password?"
...in the index. Win98 sees the NIC, has the driver, and shows the linux host on network neighborhood. But, every time I click on that icon, I get a dialog box with the title, "Enter Network Password." It says, You must supply a password to make this connection. Resource: \\SALMO\IPC$ Passowrd: | I try my user password and my root password, but neither is what the system wants. Has anyone seen this before? What is the solution? I hope that this is the last sticking point before being able to move my win apps and data back to the vm from their storage on the linux...

NADA package/cenboxplot() method: maximum censored percentage
One set of data has censored (less-than detection limits) water chemistry concentrations for 80-100% of all observations. My initial trial-and-error attempts to apply the cenboxplot() method suggests that it has an upper limit to the percentage of censored observations. I do not see this limit in Dennis Helsel's second edition. Has anyone experience plotting censored data and can provide

Reverse-ATA : Using PSTN lines to connect to Asterisk
Hi, I'm looking for a few pointers on using ATA to connect Asterisk to the PSTN. Basically, I'm running a Hosted PBX service, and in urban centers I can usually get SIP or PRIs. Since I sell my customers SIP hardphones, the data flow is like this: Customer's SIP Hardphone ---- My own Asterisk ----- Outside lines But when it comes to smaller villages (I deal with people in tiny

Asterisk without PSTN interface cards
People, I will install asterisk on my Debian Etch box without a PSTN interface card. I want to use only softphones for the moment. My question are: 1) Is it enough to install with "apt-get" the asterisk 1.2 or do I have to get asterisk 1.4 manually ??? 2) Do I have to configure a dummy PSTN interface in my case ?? And if you have a debian-asterisk howto, I really thank you. Regards,
