(Heuristic?) salient feature selection
Dear all,
I am new to R and statistics really in general. I am hoping that someone
will be able to point me in the right direction and/or suggest a
technique/package/reference that will help me with the following.
I have:
Some input variables (integers, real)
Some output variables (integers, real)
and I want to find out which between the two correlate best - i.e. the
salient features. I

RFC: Comprehensive Static Instrumentation
Hey LLVM-dev,
We propose to build the CSI framework to provide a comprehensive suite of
compiler-inserted instrumentation hooks that dynamic-analysis tools can use
to observe and investigate program runtime behavior. Traditionally, tools
based on compiler instrumentation would each separately modify the compiler
to insert their own instrumentation. In contrast, CSI inserts a standard

I am very glad this project reached the state where we can start the public
code review. Please shoot the patches for review when ready.

Thank you for your comments. I've CC'd the CSI mailing list with your
comments and put my responses inline. Please let me know any other

The salient features that we want to have in the driver are:
1. llvm-ld will be used as "The Optimizer".
2. If the user has specified to generate the final executable, then
llvm-ld should run on all the .bc files generated by clang

readLines() segfaults on large file & question on how to work around
Hi:
I have a 2.1GB JSON file. Typically I use readLines() and
jsonlite:fromJSON() to extract data from a JSON file.
When I try and read in this file using readLines() R segfaults.
I believe the two salient issues with this file are
1). Its size
2). It is a single line (no line breaks)
I can reproduce this issue as follows
#Generate a big file with no line breaks

When collected warnings exceeds 50
Hi,
I've been tracking down a memory leak in an rApache application,
http://data.vanderbilt.edu/rapache/bbplot. The code was deployed in
2007 and has survived numerous upgrades of both R and rApache
(including upgrades and bugs in RMySQL). It's written in such a way so
that web crawlers will download every possible URL the app will
create. It's not a high-traffic app, but just about

RFC: Comprehensive Static Instrumentation
We've just released the project code for public review. You can find the
diffs at the following links:
CSI LLVM pass: http://reviews.llvm.org/D21445
CSI Clang support: http://reviews.llvm.org/D21446
CSI Runtime and tests: http://reviews.llvm.org/D21447
The RST for the CSI project can be found with the Clang diff.
We know that this code requires changes, additions, more tests, cleanup,
etc.

can't get UPSDRV to see serial port
First, a little history; nut has been working on this system for about
two years. It was a Fedora Core 2 (3?) system that I wiped and installed
SUSE 10.1 on so I'm fairly confident of the hardware. I thought I'd
saved the nut configuration details before I did the reinstall, but
can't find them. (D'oh!)
The UPS is an APC BackUPS Pro 420. The cable is a clone of the APC
