When I tried to add a Windows 7 machine to the domain I get " Unknown user

dumped the user's details into a ldif file and imported it into ldap. I

msdfs
Hello,
Last week I submitted a problem with msdfs on samba.
I didn't receive any reaction. I've also tried the samba-cvs version but
this
has also problems.
We really like to use msdfs from samba, because we want to put all our
homedirectories
( more than 4000 ) in one dfsroot. This is not possible with Microsoft's
dfs because this
has a limit of 1000 .... I didn't found this

Fine.
Are the names mydomain your real and wished names,
or are they coming from samdb migration?

Using MSDFS
I've set up a dfs share according to instructions. There is one part of the instructions that I don't understand. I've checked the forum archives but can't find any examples which might help.
In the Instructions section (4.1 of the HTML Samba Project Documentation), is shows how to set up the symbolic links in a DFS share, as shown below.
I have 2 Samba servers (SMB1 and SMB2).

Yes please for the notes.
I re-ran the tests without the smbldap-tools. I installed phpldapadmin and
am able to login to the apache page using the cn=admin, dn=mydomain and
create entries. This kind of tells me that LDAP is working
Then I run the pdbedit -Lv and it lists all the users.
The following happens when I add the LDAP bits to smb.conf and restart
samba.The issue seems to be with samba

rsyncd treats symlinks differently
...When I converted to using rsyncd, all my
symbolic links lose their leading slashes.
I am using version 2.4.6 and my rsyncd.conf is as follows:
[nysync]
path = /
read only = false
uid = 0
gid = 1
use chroot = false
list = false
hosts allow = sadmin.bfm.com
transfer logging = true
The command I am using is:
/usr/local/bin/rsync -auv --delete --exclude old
/applications/ny_dev_apps01/dir/ RemHost::nysync/ny_fre01/local/dir/

...sure not!
Why do I say this? Because samba 3.6 tolerates lot of things which are not
allowed in current releases.
> Then exported the /etc/passwd and /etc/group and

I have never done this.
And this could also make problems. i.e.
You have the user sadmin in /etc/paaswd and in ldap.
Remember that nss use first passwd and then ldap and stops after first
match.
