[LLVMdev] Why asserts don't provide much information?
...windows MFC which stands for Most F&$*'d-Up Class Library, so I'm not yet even a seasoned Xcoder. Still, as many of the people approaching LLVM will be considering it for embedding functionality within an application environment, I suspect that a considerable number of them will be IDE-saavy like me more than command-line tool saavy. This will be especially true of anyone coming from Windows as the Visual C++ IDE is actually an excellent product where you don't need to use the command line to do anything (Did I just complement a Microsoft product? I must be ill.) Since this is an...

Re: detecting host machine in configure.in?
...the build machine happens to support > SSE etc. > ok, all good ideas. I have made the changes to configure.in and various Makefile.am's. I added the cpu checking (based on $host_cpu) and an option to disable all asm optimizations (--disable-asm-optimizations). but since I'm not too saavy with autoconf/automake I'll ask for a little bit more help. I think the only non-functional part left is that automake doesn't support source files that are in subdirectories, relative to Makefile.am(?) the layout in src/libFLAC/ is that all asm sources will go under a 'cputype' d...

Is this a bug in CentOS-7 BackupPC?
...course, CentOS7 (and RHEL7) supports tmpfiles.d, in fact, may system services require it, such as cups, samba, pam, etc. I'm not sure why the BackupPC package installs it in /etc/tmpfiles.d instead of /usr/lib/tmpfiles.d, probably because the person who made the package isn't very systemd-saavy. The contents of the /etc/tmpfiles.d/BackupPC.conf file looks like this: D /var/run/BackupPC 0775 root backuppc - If you create that file, you'll get the /var/run/BackupPC file when you start up. I suggest filing a bug against the EPEL package if you want to get it fixed there. -- Jonath...

...mance is great compared to the alternatives! Thanks! In the wiki, I noticed that the Debian installation instructions are considered out of date. Why is this? Everything in them is accurate for contemporary Debian, modulo one minor detail. If it's merely endorsement, I'm pretty Debian saavy and willing to vouch for their accuracy. -- Ross Vandegrift ross at kallisti.us "The good Christian should beware of mathematicians, and all those who make empty prophecies. X11 Forwarding troubles with OpenSSH client and OpenVMS host
...not happening? Or the proxy $DISPLAY equivalent handled by sshd on the VMS box isn't setup? Does anyone know if this works (i.e. running a remote command over SSH without an interactive shell) or does OpenVMS require an interactive shell in order to run a remote command over SSH? I am not that saavy on OpenVMS enough to know the best way to troubleshoot. As a test I modifyied ssh_session2_setup() in ssh.c to force requesting a shell before and after (in addtion to issuing) the exec request to no avail. Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated. cheers, scott rankin

detecting host machine in configure.in?
I am trying to set up a flexible infrastructure for the assembly code. Basically what I want is configure.in determination of basic machine type (intel/compatible, alpha, ppc), then within that (say intel) the code will detect variants like MMX, SSE, and use the right routines. I know how to do the second, but what is a good way to do the first? Linux/Cygwin/Solaris seem to support the MACHTYPE

hardware ogg vorbis decoder
As it seems that the vorbis decoder is now stable with respect to format/features, would it be time to start thinking about a hardware implementation? I would be interested in pursuing this if some there is consensus on requirements. If there is some enthusiasm for it then a module could be set up on the opencores site for a gate-array decoder. cya, Andrew... --- >8 ---- List

Named update for RH 4.2 exploitable?
Someone I was speaking with this evening claimed they have installed the latest named rpms yet they are still getting exploited daily and being hacked. Do the latest rpm''s for the named 4.9.x stuff fix all the root exploits or is this person just an idiot who probably has holes elsewhere in the system?
