iir + Tyan S2460 + SMP problems
We're having problems with FreeBSD 5.4, 6.0, and 6.1 and an ICP Vortex GDT8546RZ 4 port SATA RAID card in a Tyan S2460 system with dual AMD Athlon MP 1600+ CPUs. We do not have any problems with this configuration under FreeBSD 4.11, and we have the same ICP cards in Tyan based Opterion system (S2882 and S4882) run with out problems under FreeBSD 5.4 and 6.1. We can reproduce the problem on two different S2460 based systems, and have tried 2 seperate ICP GDT8546RZ cards, so we don't believe it is a hardware problem. (Our success with FreeBSD 4.11 also provides some evidence that our hardwa...

kernel panic on Tyan Mobo's with CentOS 4
We've had a spate of these lately - about 3 or 4 boxes. I have a feeling we just got a bad run of motherboards, but thought I'd try to get some feedback. These are servers running with the Tyan Thunder K8SD (dual core AMD's, S2882 model). They have three onboard NIC's, two Broadcom gig NIC's BCM5704C's and an Intel 82551QM which is a 10/100 board. We use the Broadcom NIC's in this case with the tg3 driver. The kernel panics happen somewhat at random, though most frequently seen when scp'ing a large...

Tyan S2891 and CentOS
I am trying to install CentOS to a server that has a Tyan S2891 motherboard, 2 Opteron 875 Dual Cores and 2GB of RAM. I have been able trying to install over a network but the tg3 driver will not load. I then installed from a DVD and on rebooting after the installation I cannot get the network drivers to load and the RAID controller in the PCI slot is not available. It seems that when I do an

Opteron Mobo Suggestions
I've been planning to build a dual Opteron server for awhile. I'd like to get people's suggestions on a suitable motherboard. I've looked at the Tyan K8SE (S2892) and K8SRE (S2891) but would like to find more Linux-specific experiences with these boards. Some features I expect are at least 4 SATA (SATA-300?) ports, serial console support in the BIOS, USB 2.0 and IEEE-1394

athlon64/opteron 8GB per CPU
I'm putting together a spec for a big(ger) memory x86_64 host, and I hope some of you-all can help. I'm looking for success stories of hardware that folks are using in production environments, preferably with CentOS 4, with more than 4GB of memory per CPU. I know there are lots of mobos out there that can do this, but I'm looking for what folks really have running. Call me

kernel-4.9.37-29.el7 (and el6)
Are the testing kernels (kernel-4.9.37-29.el7 and kernel-4.9.37-29.el6, with the one config file change) working for everyone: (turn off: CONFIG_IO_STRICT_DEVMEM) If we don't hear any negative comments by Wednesday July 19th, 2017 then we are going to push those to updates as they solve iscsi issues with some hardware and don't seem to impact anything else based on limited testing.
