Laptop, nouveau and external monitor
...ads the configuration feeding it to mate. I just updated the laptop BIOS to the very latest version and saw no difference.
I am using an HDMI-HDMI cable with no adapters. I have tried both booting with the external monitor already attached and attaching/reattaching it later. The monitor is an Acer S230HL monitor.
I am using the nouveau driver and inxi reports the presence of both Intel UHD Graphics 620 and Nvidia GM108M (GeForce 940MX).
The kernel is:

Centos 6.7 on Tyan Tiger MPX, Graphics and eArrayDirector
...llennium MGA 2064W, and the slow default driver (VESA?) was installed.
Is a faster video driver available? It would be nice to be able to run the desktop more smoothly... The graphics chip has 8 MB of memory. I Googled but did not find a driver.
Is this VESA driver the reason the monitor, an Acer S230HL, is not identified but shown as Unknown in the monitor setup?
