dm-ioband RPM packages
Hi all, This is a good news for LVM users, especially for RHEL and CentOS users. You can control I/O bandwidth of your disks easily without hassle, because I've made RPM binary packages of dm-ioband and dm-ioband-config available at http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/dm-ioband/binary.html The RPM binary packages are for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x and CentOS 5.x. They were tested on CentOS 5.3 and will also work on other 5.x versions. Please refer to the on-line manual at http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/dm-ioband/manual/index.html or the README file whic...

dm-ioband + bio-cgroup benchmarks
...the disk I/O bandwidth even when it accepts delayed write requests. In this time, I ran some benchmarks with a high-end storage. The reason was to avoid a performance bottleneck due to mechanical factors such as seek time. You can see the details of the benchmarks at: http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/dm-ioband/hps/ Thanks, Ryo Tsuruta

[PATCH 0/8] I/O bandwidth controller and BIO tracking
...I/O throughput on dm-ioband is excellent not only on SATA storage but on SDD, which as good as the one without dm-ioband. Changes from the previous release: - Fix a bug that create_workqueue() is called during spin lock when creating a new ioband group. - A new tunable parameter "carryover" is added, which specifies how many tokens an ioband group can keep for the future use when the group isn't so active. TODO: - Other policies to schedule BIOs. - Policies which fits SSD. e.g.) - Guarantee response time. - Guarantee throughput. - Poli...

[PATCH 1/5] bio-cgroup: Introduction
Hi all, This is a new release of bio-cgroup which provides an IO tracking mechanism. The patches can be applied to the kernel 2.6.30-rc1 and you can also download them from the following site. http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/bio-cgroup/ What's bio-cgroup all about? ============================ With this feature, you can determine the owners of any type of I/Os. This makes dm-ioband_--_I/O_bandwidth_controller_-- be able to control the Block I/O bandwidths even when it accepts delayed write requests. Dm-ioband can...

What are your bottomneck in using Xen solution?
Hello, Given that nowadays standard Dual Quad Core server is such popular, with Dual GB Ethernet, bundles of high capacity of SATA disks running as RAID 10. What are the factors that prevent you from installing additional VM on an existing server? e.g. 1. CPU 2. Memory 3. Disk I/O 4. Network 5. Else? _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list

I/O bandwidth control on KVM
...I/Os is not according to the bandwidth setting. On the other hand, I got the good result when accessing directly to the local disk on the local machine. I'm not so familiar with KVM. Could anyone give me any advice? For dm-ioband details, please see the website at http://people.valinux.co.jp/~ryov/dm-ioband/ The number of issued I/Os -------------------------------------------------------------- | device | sda11 | sda12 | | weight setting | 80% | 20% | |----------------------+----...
