R as a web service
Dear R-helpers, I have been inquired about the possibility of developing a web distributed scoring system: a model is created in a central location, users fill a form in their browsers, and the central server calls this model and returns a YES/NO answer to them. I am tempted into using R for this assignment. I have used Rapache for similar tasks, but I am afraid that it is too of a novelty for

Using R from Java
Hello, I am interesting in using R from a web application, for basic statistics and plots. The server is Java-based (tomcat). The simplest solution is a system call that generates the text or the image, then the servlet forwards the output. This can be done from any language, but it is quite inelegant and slow for the initialization time. Is there any package or approach for accessing R from a

Rscript -e, Sweave and tempdir()
Hello R-Help I have a question about the "behind the scenes" behaviour of the Rscript -e command and particularly its interaction with Sweave and tempdir(). We are trying to deploy R as a web service to do water quality analyses and have been writing software to call Sweave via Rscript eg: cmd> Rscript -e Sweave('sweavefile.Rnw') One problem we have been having is that

R-Server remotecontrolled via browser-GUI
dear r-community, currently i have a workflow as following: data in online-MYSQL-database via .csv into R for analysis, results back to mysql. generating graphics for reports also. that's ok, but i need some process-optimization. i'd like to run r directly on the webserver. analysis should work automatically, after the appropriate r-script was selected in a browser-gui for R. until

R and Web Applications
Hello, I'm curious to know how people are calling R from web applications (I've been looking for Perl but I'm open to other languages). After doing a search, I came across the R package "RSPerl", but I'm having difficulties getting it installed (on Mac OSX). I believe the problem probably has to do with changes in R since the package release. Below you will see where

Mature SOAP Interface for R
Hello, we are writing rich internet user interfaces and like to call R for some of the computational needs on the data, as well as some creation of image files. Our objects communicate via the SOAP interface. We have been researching the various packages to expose R as a SOAP service. No current CRAN SOAP packages however. Found 3 to date: RSOAP (http://sourceforge.net/projects/rsoap/)

Accessing R as a Web service (UNCLASSIFIED)
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE I am new to R and somewhat to Web server programming. I am a Java programmer, however, and have done quite a bit with X3D (extensible 3D) computer graphics. A statistician that I work with is doing multidimensional scaling (MDS) and provides some x,y,z's which I display using X3D. Currently he is using Permap which more than gets the job done

R as a server on Linux
Hi, I am trying to avid the somewhat costly startup overhead of launching a separate R executable for each "client" request on Linux. My current architecture is such that My Java client explicitly calls R in batch mode and passes it certain parameters. The initital startup takes almost 10 seconds because R has to load a bunch of libraries as well as a moderately large, previously

Question: Publishing R/S objects with WebServices (SOAP/WSDL)
Hello, Can anyone tell me if there is a package which will allow me to write a package in R, then publish the package using WebServices? The idea is that I want to be able to pass a data set into R, have R perform the calculations, then send the result back to either a .Net application or a LIMS BASIC application. So far I see many packages that allow R to consume WebServices, but I haven't

...ese 3 and can recommend the most > 'mature' R - SOAP interface package? > Well, SSOAP is (the last time I checked) just a SOAP client. rsoap (if we're talking about the same package) is actually a python SOAP server that communicates to R via rpy. You might want to check out the RWebServices package in Bioconductor. I think it uses Java for its SOAP handling.
