Shorewall 3.4.x - Error when (re) starting - segmentation fault
...$SHOREWALL_SHELL ${VARDIR}/.restart $debugging restart
got this with V3.4.4, updated to 3.4.6 this morning, but that didn''t help.
Does anybody have any hint for me ?
I am travelling onsite now to further debug the problem.
Regards from Germany.

...ting to recognize that those private
IPs are to be reached through the
ipsec tunnel ? There is no transfer net like with OpenVPN where I could
easily add routes by hand.
What am I doing wrong here ?
Thanks in advance for any hint.

Problem with bridging/routing on three interfaces and DNAT
Hello all,
I have a problem with external access to a postfix mailserver running on my
firewall as a mail-gateway. My setup with shorewall 2.2.0 rc4 is as follows:
eth0 is zone isf - this is an intranet to other companies
eth1 is zone loc - local network
eth2 is zone net - internet, fix ip adress
eth0 and eth1 are bridged

IPSec Problem / hanging session
...to the firewall-system (remote ip
217.19.188.182 / internal ip
is 192.168.115.254), using PuTTY as SSH-client.
I can login, but as soon as I start something that produces "traffic"
my session hangs (mc for example).
Thanks for your time.

Serious stability issues
We have encountered a number of problems with our firewall recently,
and the past 24 hours have left me quite concerned. Here is what we are
seeing:
1. Original firewall, a PentiumPro/200 with 96Mb RAM, serving approx
500 client PCs for a 10Mb internet connection. Running Mandrake 9.2, we
began seeing severe swapping a few weeks, with kernel mem usage
exceeding 200Mb. Given an ip_conntrack

creating a static route (SUSE 10)
Hi,
We have a shorewall firewall running on SUSE 10. We have three nic''s, Lan, DMZ and Internet. We also have a Cisco Pix 506e. We moved from sending all our traffic through the pix to using the Suse box yesterday. The PIX is in the DMZ, with a connection to the LAN switch, the idea being that VPN users can connect to the pix to the lan.
The Pix is on the 10.0.1.x subnet, the lan is

Shorewall, Freeswan and SuSE 9.1
I have been using shorewall and freeswan successfully for 3 or more
years now. But they have all been using the Linux 2.4 kernel. My current
configuration is (as the title suggests) using SuSE 9.1 which has a
2.6.5 kernel and freeswan 2.0.4 built-in.
After much reading and a lot of trial and error, I did get this
combination to work with Shorewall 2.0.9. It is happily talking to an
older Mandrake

It is with regret that I announce that Shorewall development and support is
officially ended.
Sean''s post has finally driven it home to me that in the long term, trying
to support a project like Shorewall is impossible for a person of my
personality and age.

Snort-inline - how to include rules ?
Hi all,
I read the docu and I read the FAQ, I still
don''t know where and how I should include the rules
the mark packets for SNORT-inline. They need to be
marked in the "in"-queue of the external interface
*before* any firewall rules are applied.
Any hints welcome.

How to link files needed for opus encoding to Qt project
Hello everyone,
as I did not find a solution on my own, perhaps you can help me:
For my app ( Qt 5.2.1 with C++, Windows 8, Mingw32) I need to continously
convert raw pcm data to opus. I have been trying hard to link or compile
opus, but yet did not succeed. From the docs I already know how to call the
functions. But I can't figure out how to access them.
Please, tell me what files I need to

R 3.1.0: 'R CMD Sweave' deletes non tex files created upon batch mode exit
Hi Martin,
I use R CMD Sweave often as well, so thanks for looking into this. I
have now tested some of my scripts with R-devel revision 65449
(2014-04-22) on 64-Bit Linux Mint 14.
I can confirm Marc's report that running R CMD Sweave no longer deletes
graphic files and retains created non-tex files (eps and/or pdf).
What does not behave as before is the output printed to stdout, which

Hi,
I'm using samba 3.0.23c, and having a bit of trouble getting it to play nice
with my active directory. I'm using Windows Small Business Server 2003 with
the SFU 3.5 NIS server/schema extensions installed. I have samba configured
to use ad as the idmap backend, and sfu for nss info.
When running getent passwd, only a few active directory users show up, and I
get lots of errors
