How do I test new code?
I know how to run a second instance of the *base* code (to check different functionality/config) and documented it in http://wiki.dovecot.org/RunningDovecot What I realize I don't know how to do is to run an altogether different version or build of the code as that second instance, which would be good to have to check out upgrades before they go into production. While I could do a build in the regular fashion and put DC somewhere else or name...

Multiple servers and NFS
Hi all, For some reason, I didn't go to http://wiki2.dovecot.org/NFS until now, and I'm starting to get worried ... The plan was to have multple servers (MXes) receiving mail, and delivering via LMTP to multiple backend dovecot servers (with amavis in front of dovecot; LMTP both sides). Then we'd have multiple servers for clients to use IMAP or POP3. This is more or less how the

Using a separate passdb per service
Situation: one front-facing server running Dovecot as IMAP/POP3/ ManageSieve proxy, a mixture of IMAP servers (Dovecot, Exchange, ...) in the back-end. Dovecot's passdb does lookups against MySQL which contains a simple user/host mapping, the actual authentication happens on the back-end IMAP servers. The configuration is more or less as described here:

Using a separate passdb per service
I'm not sure if this would work, but possibly having two separate instances of dovecot with separate configs running may work for you. http://wiki2.dovecot.org/RunningDovecot On 08/07/15 11:04, Gerry wrote: > Situation: one front-facing server running Dovecot as IMAP/POP3/ > ManageSieve proxy, a mixture of IMAP servers (Dovecot, Exchange, ...) > in the back-end. Multiple Dovecot instances over single mail store
Hi, I need to run two Dovecot instances with totally different authentication configs: first - passwordless, based on client SSL certificate; and second - regular password based (LDAP, passwd etc.). (As far as I know this cannot be achieved with single Dovecot instance; if I'm mistaken, please correct me). My intention is to give clients dual access to their mailboxes: some do own a SSL cert,

dovecot 1.2.5 - can't create auth listener
Hi. I have version 1.1.11 working fine with multiple servers. When I upgrade to 1.2.4 or 1.2.5 I keep getting an error 'can't create auth listener' (address in use) I have two ip addresses (lets call them 1.0.0.1 and 1.0.0.2). Each ip address has it's own certificate and set of servers with custom ports. I don't know how the configuration is supposed to work and it was a lot

Multiple instances of dovecot in the same machine.
Hello all, I'm trying to run several instances of dovecot, with a different config each one, following the instructions from here: http://wiki.dovecot.org/RunningDovecot I try the command dovecot -c /etc/dovecot/installN/dovecot.conf and get: --- Error: ssl_cert_file: Can't use /etc/ssl/certs/dovecot.pem: No such file or directory Fatal: Invalid configuration in /etc/dovecot/installN --- but in my /etc/dovecot/installN/dovecot.conf file I have these lines...

Authentication issue
Hi, I need to set up a weird dovecot configuration: 1) outside a ssl tunnel I'd like to authenticate only with cram-md5 scheme 2) inside a ssl tunnel I'd like to authenticate only with plain auth The first is easily satisfied with auth_mechanisms = plain cram-md5 disable_plaintext_auth = yes but I don't know how to satisfy the second condition, if it's possible. Thanks for

Virtual Servers, or different authentication setups.
I want to know if there is any virtual server functionality in Dovecot? I would like to have two separate configurations, that access the same email, running in the same Dovecot instance. They would bind different ports and/or IPs, but have different authentication settings. In particular, one would use a PLAIN password scheme, the other SSHA. How would I go about setting up these virtual
