Runaway MOH/mp3123 process?
Has anyone noticed a problem with runaway mpg123 processes for music-on-hold eating up ~100% CPU and driving the load on the machine way up? I've seen this problem consistently with multiple Asterisk installs, 1.2.x and 1.4.x, although admittedly it was more common with 1.2.x as far as I can tell. There is no clearly identifiable sequence of events that causes this to occur, although it

OH DEAR! - RE: 2.2.2 runaway SMBD process
Jeremy, Bit of bad news - we had a another runaway SMBD. This time profiles were NOT involved - I was simply copying up an installation of Office2000 and then deleting it. It almost reached the end of the deletion when the processor utilisation went up to 90%. The client connection then dropped with a 'connection is no longer available' and there is now 99% processor utilisation on the

Runaway 2 fails to run
I'm trying to play Runaway - The Dream of the Turtle under Wine. The game is listed as platinum in the AppDB, so I didn't expect a lot of problems. However, when I try to run it I get this in terminal and nothing else happens: Code: fixme:ntoskrnl:KeInitializeTimerEx 0x1110e0 0 fixme:ntoskrnl:IoAllocateMdl stub: 0x111700, 5, 0, 0, (nil) fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x33a13c) using

Runaway samba processes
...Thoughts : It could be that samba isn't closing the socket properly. This fits, if the process is waiting for the socket to close, but it stays open (deadlocked condition?). Why this might be, I can only guess. I've proved that it works again on the same machine after killing off the runaways, so it does not appear to be an environment issue. It might be a problem with AIX and Samba under certain conditions. A Memory leak maybe? In any case, I would be grateful for some ideas/help. Thanks, Robert

SPOOLSV and XP PRO
Hi All I recently began having issues where there would be a runaway SMBD process listed in TOP, having a Pri of around 25, and using 70 to 95% CPU indefinitely. IPTRAF reports around 600kbps constantly in and out from the subject workstation, with nothing going on - on the workstation. This traffic is parallel to the runaway SMBD process ... the traffic dies when the SMBD process is

Killing runaway PBX
How do I stop asterisk when it is in a bad mood? It keeps dialing extensions and won't listen! I tried kill <PID>. No go. I don't want to have to reboot again. Thanks. Jim Friedeck P.S. I love it when my boss looks over my shoulder and I don't have an answer when he says: 'So, what are you doing?'

2.2.2 runaway SMBD process
Hello, I am running Samba 2.2.2 with acl-0.7.16 on RedHat 6.2 (2.2.19). The PDC is a Windows 2000 Server and the Samba server is a domain member using Winbind. All the workstations are Windoze 2000 Pro with SP2. Everything seemingly works fine but every day or two I get a runaway SMBD process which hogs the CPU and becomes unkillable. The only resolution is to reboot the server completely.

runaway process in 3.0.21b
Hi! I'm running 3.0.21b on OpenBSD 3.8-stable (i386) with raidframe. Without any apparent cause one of the smbd child processes has started to badly leak memory (approx. 10Mb / minute) and possibly busy waiting, persistant across reboots. The server has been running flawlessly in production for over three months and absolutely nothing has changed on the server since it went into production.

Runaway apcsmart process
On several occasions I have seen the apcsmart process runaway using 100% CPU while filling my syslog partition by logging the following syslog entries at an incredible rate. I have seen up to 21,800 log entries PER SECOND of the following nature: --[snip]-- Jun 25 10:06:38 servername apcsmart[4012]: Communications with UPS lost: Communications with UPS lost - check cabling Jun 25 10:06:38

Runaway icecast again (more YP issues)
Geoff, to resolve the problem of the "Server exists" issue, I actually need the stream name (I called it server name), as that is what is used (in part) to key into the "Server exists" logic. Also, let me know if this is still happening, or if it has resolved itself. with regard to the system load above 8....what is your setting for <yp-url-timeout> in your

Xen and LVM snapshots on FC4
Hello, I''ve tried to make Xen and LVM snapshots work with RHEL3 (upgraded to FC4 partly, using FC4 kernel 2.6.12-1.1387_FC4, xen-2-20050522 installed from RPM). I had a problem where non-snapshot LVM images worked, but as soon as I create a snapshot of one and tried to use that, I would get a crash like this as soon as I booted up a Xen domain: Freeing unused kernel memory: 160k freed

Runaway vncviewer processes
If I have vnc=1 and try to start a domain, if the domain creation fails for some reason, the vncviewer process is not cleaned up. I''ll try to send a patch next week if no one gets there before I do. -Arun _______________________________________________ Xen-devel mailing list Xen-devel@lists.xensource.com http://lists.xensource.com/xen-devel
