Oplock Usage Recommendations Whitepaper
I have written a whitepaper for CIFS/9000 Server (Samba on HP-UX) that
discusses some rudimentry usage recommendations for oplocks. Due to
the recent discussion about oplocks on the list, I have edited the paper
to be more generic for Samba on HP-UX and converted it to plain text.
It's still 7 pages long, so it may be inappropriate to paste into an
email. If there is any interest in it,...

what to do ??
...s move to netware 6 ( cost about $3000 )
3. do I move to samba.
4. do I make a hybrid and pick the eyes out of each system
Now I fully expect most people to say go linux and whilst I am all for it
I need to be able to justify my decision . I am capable of administering a
netware system and have a rudimentry samba server system running at
another place ( no ldap ) so am familiar with samba to some degree but
have ( up until now ) steered clear of the inferior microsoft server
packages ( also have little experience with them ).So some traing costs in
samba and microsoft should be included in the mix....

Oplocks Usage Recommendations Whitepaper (with attachment)
Here is Oplocks Usage Recommendations Whitepaper for Samba on HP-UX
(originally was written for CIFS/9000 Server on HP-UX).
Note that the intended audience is/are HP-UX customers who have
questions
and concerns about when to configure oplocks. This is intended as a
rudimentry guide to help avoid the most obvious oplock pitfalls.
Hopefully the plain text alignments hold up well for most editors. Word
messes things up.
Thanks,

Roadmap to future
v1.1.0 is finally getting closer, so it's time to start planning what
happens after it. Below is a list of some of the larger features I'm
planning on implementing. I'm not yet sure in which order, so I think
it's time to ask again what features companies would be willing to pay
for?
