Realtek device 5249 kernel module for C6 - a request to epel
...inux Antisana.psc-elsene.be 2.6.32-431.17.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Wed May 7 23:32:49 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Googling gave me http://linuxterminal.org/issue-with-rts5229-pci-express-card-reader/; last reply by Fran?ois suggests to download the Realtek 5229 driver, edit the Makefile and rtsx.c and compile.
And it works as stated.
It would be handy if this module could be incorporated with epel. But I can't find the right way to make such a request. (shame on me)
Thanks for any pointer

Delayed Write failures with Windows XP
We have users who have their desktop folders on a Samba share. Some of them have been getting "Delayed Write Failure" messages recently on the "cookies/index.dat" file. At first I thought it was a
fluke related to a network outage we experienced, but now I'm finding out it had been happening previously.
This is Samba 2.2.5 on SuSE Linux SLES7 on S/390.
Does anyone have

Gee... I wish it would!
My probelm currently is the fact that if I add this line to /etc/exports:
/mnt/MountedSambaShare somebox(nohide)
I get:
somebox:/mnt/MountesSambaShare: Invalid argument
This happens whether /etc/exports says "somebox(nohide)" or
"somebox(ro)" or "somebox()".
Note that /mnt/MounteSambaShare is in fact

Linux permissions vs Samba permissions
Okay, admittedly I'm running an old version 2.0.5, but, why do I have to set
the eXecute permission in Linux before Samba will let a Windows client see
any files? Why would execute have anything to do with read and/or write? I
would think I could set -rw-rw---- or -rw-rw-rw- and be just fine, but oh
no, you get an empty list and cannot create new files until I change it
to -rwxrwx--- or

smbd crashing machine
...00 00 8b 82
At some point the machine crashes with an entry as above and the only
way to recover is to do a hard shutdown (ouch!)
If any additional info is needed please let me know.

Fwd: Access to Everyone
You can force all users to be recognized as a single user. Set permissions on
the directory to
drwxrwsrws nobody nobody /home/technical
[Technical]
comment = Technical
browseable = yes
path = /home/technical
valid users = +users
force create mode = 0777
fforce directory mode = 0777
force user = nobody
force group = nobody
Works good for me . . .
