Cannot get rtorrent to run
If I'm writing about this in the wrong place, please let me know. However,
when I
uninstalled rtorrent and then re-installed it, I kept getting this very
same error:

How do I link to custom libs without affecting system libs (LD_LIBRARY_PATH)
Hi, i am getting an issue with rtorrent that is related to my curl libaries.
In summary it requires a later curl libary than CentOS 5.4 uses for its system files (CentOS uses curl libs version 7.15.5, rtorrent requires 7.19.2 or greater).
To get around this I would like to download the latest curl version and compile and link to rtor...

hi

CentOS5 consistent media check failures 2 - 6.
Folks,
As much as I hate to, I feel I need to post my long story and ask help.
Shortly after the release announcement, I kicked off rtorrent and
downloaded the CD and DVD images. Since my cable provider does my
"throttling", I disabled throttling and shared for several days,
"returning" several GBs at no objectionable loss I could discern.
While that was going on, I used cdrecord (don't jump to conclusions

[C6] Some typical apps missing?
...repositories I configured. To name a few: ktorrent, kile, krusader,
pavucontrol, mplayerplug-in (or is it now gecko-mediaplayer), xine,
xmms, and so on... All these apps were readily available for C5, and I
used them happily.
I am mostly surprised with the absence of *any* torrent client, bar
the rtorrent (which doesn't have a man page and I have no idea how to
use it). Also kile, krusader and pavucontrol are quite basic and
common apps...
The configured repositories are: base, updates, extras, rpmforge,
elrepo, as reported by yum.
What am I missing?
I would also be grateful if anyone has a s...

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use
bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent
package from Dag's repository. I have configured
/etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus:

OT: Bittorrent clients
Hi all,
Just switched my home computer from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6 and I'm having a slight bit of trouble with the bittorrent-clients.
* Transmission is fine but lacks "a bit" in features.
* Vuze is my preferred bt-client but gives me horrendous gfx-artifacts, like not showing the torrent name (it's white text on a white background or some such...).
* Deluge is better, and

ulimit -n ignored/ Max files reached
I am having a problem with running utorrent on wine. After running for a little while I eventually get:
Error: Too many files open.
I have set ulimit -n unlimited which gives me:
Code:
root@???: 02:43 AM :~# ulimit -n
1048576
root@???: 02:43 AM :~#
Also its got plenty of file descriptors so it doesn't seem like wine is truly using up to that amount:
Code:
root@???: 02:43 AM

How to fight with encrypted p2p
Hi
I believe that whole question is in topic.
Is there any way to recognize ( and then shape ) p2p traffic which is encrypted?
Modern p2p clients have this ability moreover some of them have this enabled by default.
Now I''m using ipp2p for iptables but as I know this doesn''t recognize encrypted traffic.
Thanks in advance.
Pozdrawiam

OT: Bittorrent clients
Sorin,
I recommend you stick to Transmission since it's in Base.
I have however issued updated packages for Deluge in my nux-dextop repo if it helps you.
Also check rtorrent out.

OT: Bittorrent clients
Did you try Transmission? You can install just the daemon (provided you
wnat to access it from elsewhere) and access it through a neat web UI.
Other interesting option is rtorrent if you like console-based apps.
Btw, my OT: from Windows 7 to CentOS 6.6? WHY!!? I mean, I use CentOS
everywhere I can for my server needs but I think that for a workstation
Fedora could be a better fit - my 2cents.

µTorrent + SSL tracker connections = HTTP Reply 0
...and grab peers fine.
the only problem is, due to a new legislation inside of sweden- people there want all incoming traffic to be encrypted.
i am at a loss, a few people have described the problem and so far the ONLY known resolution has been to swap to another linux native bittorrent client like rtorrent.
if anyone can think of a resolution, or some things i can try-- i will be more than happy to do a guide on how to do it for other people if i find a resolution.

Upgrade from Centos 4.4 to Centos 5
Hi,
Is there a yum way to upgrade from CentOS 4.4 to CentOS 5?
Or I just need to download the installation CDs and upgrade using
them, as I did many times with Fedora.
best regards,
