Backing up from fat32 to ext3
Hi, I have a problem backing up my music collection, that is stored on a fat32 formated hard drive to my ext3 formated backup drive (ext3 to ext3 works like a charm :) ). The problem is, that rsync always transfers all of the files and not only the one that were changed/added. I know of the limitations fat32 has but I can't find the correct options to run the backup. Thanks Thomas

Verbose logging
Hello All, I have a simple question I think. I have been using rsync for a year now and all is going well. I have it set up in my cron.daily with the -azv option. When I receive the email upon completion of the cron is there any options I am not aware of that will also show me the size of the file being transfered? Thanks for any help. Amy A.

delete of stat xattr failed
Hello all, For quite some time now i've been seeing this error during my nightly backups (though i've simply ignored it until now :P ) : rsync: delete of stat xattr failed for "<FILE>": Operation not permitted (1) Where <FILE> is, of course, any one of a number of items. Both machines are running "rsync version 3.0.2 protocol version 30". It's not

Intermittent connection failure
Hi, i have sporadic connection problems with my rsync server. I have _no_ firewall involved and there is _no_ max connections set. rsync on the clients is started from cron via a bash script. There's also no permission problem. rsyncd runs as daemon (is not started from inetd). It sometimes works, but every third or fourth rsync fails with this message: rsync: failed to connect to
