client connections to shares
Hi All,
I am wondering:
Is it possible for a windows client to use separate tcp/ip connection per
share.
Meaning that if we have SAMBA server that shares let's say three shares,
then each client that connect to those shares (tcon) will end up having
three tcp/ip connections with the server and of course there will be three
separate smbd to handle each share.
Essentially configuring SMBA

Hi,
I am trying to mount a Windows share using smbmount. On the Linux machine
which is also the Samba server, this works fine.
I also have an embedded system whose target is MIPS running on Linux. I
cross compile samba for MIPS target ( only smbmount ) and try running it on
my embedded system. Previously this use to work. Now there have been some
changes in the target environment and i have to

smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt
Hi,
I am deploying samba for an embedded system. The requirement is that the
system should be able to mount windows share points. I believe "smbmount,
smbumount and smbmnt" components are needed to do the same. I am not very
clear about smbmnt though!
I find that smbmount, smbumount and smbmnt are all quite huge. Around 300
to 400Kb each.
I understand that Samba is capable of doing

ldmap module rid messages using winbind
I am running an Ubuntu 9.04 machine with kernel 2.6.28-16-server,
Samba v3.3.2 that uses winbind for authentication of users.
My log files are littered with messages like these every time a user
remotely mounts their home directory:
