How to interpret the output of 'iostat -x /dev/sdb1 20 100' ??
...l times. But it doesn't help.
I still get confused with the output of 'iostat', the
manual seems too abstract, or high-level, for me.
Let's post the output first:

I'll ask about the rrqm/s, r/s, rsec/s, avgrq-sz,

Slow concurrent actions on the same LVM logical volume
Hi 2 all !
I have problems with concurrent filesystem actions on a ocfs2
filesystem which is mounted by 2 nodes. OS=RH5ES and OCFS2=1.2.6
F.e.: If I have a LV called testlv which is mounted on /mnt on both
servers and I do a "dd if=/dev/zero of=/mnt/test.a bs=1024
count=1000000" on server 1 and do at the same time a du -hs
/mnt/test.a it takes about 5 seconds for du -hs to execute:

which process & file taking up disk IO?
...e server.
is there a way to check which process and which file is taking up disk IO? or
see what is being written to the disk?
i'm very puzzled as the amount of writes is 10 times higher than the reads; and
I can't figure out what the writes are for.

Is it normal for the %util to be 9.97% for the above reads/ writes on a U320
drive? or perhaps i have a badly misconfig...

Dovecot performance issues with many writes

how to optimize CentOS XEN dom0?
Hi,
I have a problematic CentOS XEN server and hope someone could point me
in the right direction to optimize it a bit.
The server runs on a Core2Quad 9300, with 8GB RAM (max motherboard can
take, 1U chassis) on an Intel motherboard with a 1TB SATA HDD.
dom0 is set to 512MB limit with a few small XEM VM's running:
