terminate R program when trying to access out-of-bounds a rray element?
As Bert said, redefining functions like "[" is surely inadvisable, because
of possibility of breaking codes that depend on the intended behavior. This
is a language _feature_.
If the problem is indexing beyond array extent, just check for it: Are any
values that are going to be used for indexing larger than the length of the
object? E.g.,
if (any(idx > length(x))) stop("index out of bound")
result <- x[i]
If this is still too much work for you, Perhaps R is not for you...

ZIL controls in Solaris 10 U4?
Is it true that Solaris 10 u4 does not have any of the nice ZIL controls
that exist in the various recent Open Solaris flavors? I would like to
move my ZIL to solid state storage, but I fear I can''t do it until I
have another update. Heck, I would be happy to just be able to turn the
ZIL off to see how my NFS on ZFS performance is effected before spending
the $''s. Anyone

Upgrade to 3.0.14 breaks NT4 client login
Our office is a mix of XP and NT4 clients.
I've been running Fedora Core 3 for some time with
samba-3.0.10-1.fc3.i386.rpm with no problems.
When I upgraded to Fedora Core 4 with samba-3.0.14a-2.i386.rpm NT4 clients
can no longer authenticate.
