...ed my smb.conf (note that I had been running with TCP_NODELAY but turned this off), my lmhosts, and all five logfiles from my /var/log/samba directory -- the logfiles were generated by turning samba off, deleting the existing logfiles, turning samba on, and then accessing the home directory for rramstad on the samba box. I had similar behavior with 3.0.1 and 3.0.2rc2 but didn't report it thinking that it might go away with the newest release. I've seen reports of similar problems here on the list.
