Wiki updates needed for rpmrepo.org when it's up & running
When rpmrepo.org is up and running properly, there are 2 or 3 Wiki pages that need to be updated. I wiped the HD on my daughter's box and am trying to install multimedia on it again. The change from RPMForge to rpmrepo.org requires some minor updates to several Wiki pages. http://wiki.centos.org/TipsAndTri...

Status of RPMForge || RPMRepo
Are the websites for RPMForge or RPMRepo off line for anyone else? As an aside (since I am just noticing), how long has rpmforge.net redirected to rpmrepo.org/rpmforge? Thanks, Andy

rpm command option
...ata.? It was available for installation using a few different methods.? Using yum was also recommended for the installation.? The install instructions began with what appeared to be a fairly typical command as indicated below (with the URL slightly altered). sudo rpm --import https://rpm.xxxxx.com/rpmrepo.key To our junior employee assigned to perform the install on a test system, it seemed like a good idea to do some checking on the rpm option --import indicated in those instructions.? They did not find the --import in any of the 14 pages of the CentOS 7 man page for rpm. Some Google searches ind...

Opera browser on CentOS
Is anyone running the Opera browser on Centos 7 or 6? While not available in a yum-repository, it seems to be available as a snap-package. Not familiar with those yet but curious if the browser is worthwhile to run. I have generally found Firefox less useful/compatible than Chromium but would also like alternatives, particularly since Opera defaults to a VPN-connection.

You didn't give me some packages, so now I'm giving you some! R, TexLive, LyX, Gnumeric, etc.
I want up-to-dateish versions of TexLive, R, gnumeric, emacs, but on a more-or-less stable base of Centos-5.2. I asked for packages in this, but got no answers. So now I've built them and will let you try them if you want. I used the source packages from Fedora 8 and 9. I wanted TexLive because many of us have jumped ship to Ubuntu Linux 8.04 and it does offer TexLive, and the compatability

centos on intel D945GCLF board
Hi, I am trying to install centos on the intel D945GCLF board. It's a mini-ITX board with the atom processor and it uses the Realtek RTL8102EL LAN chipset. When I disable the on-board LAN card it installs and runs OK, but when I enable it, I get kernel panic at boot. The board runs perfectlj with Fedora 9 (with the latest kernel) or with Ubuntu server. My question is: is there some way

yum cannot find bittorent rpm at dag
I am trying to get the x86_64 isos of CentOS-5.2. I wish to use bittorrent. The last time that I did this I required the bittorent package from Dag's repository. I have configured /etc/yum.repos.d/DagWieers.repo thus: [dag] name=Dag Wieers RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux #Also see URL http://dag.wieers.com/home-made/apt/

interview request for ppl who have Shockwave/.Firefox working
For a long time now I've wanted to be able to watch videos. I've done the "try this!" and "try that!" method and it hasn't worked well. So I'm wondering if anyone running CentOS 5.5 has Shockwave on Firefox working. Currently it works for me with short videos-- up to two or three minutes long. However, when Shockwave is enabled, CPU usage jumps to 99%,

New CentOS 5 repo: dahdi, asterisk, freepbx RPMs
Dear list, I've set up an RPM repository with several asterisk-related RPMs that I think contain some improvements upon what are already out there. The first goal is to be able to build an Asterisk + FreePBX system on CentOS 5 with the EPEL repo enabled; in our environment, where all our systems are under configuration management, either an appliance-type solution or a manual

Dag's comment at linuxtag
>From http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20090629 "....Right next to the Gentoo stand was a group of young people, proudly displaying their affiliation with CentOS. Dag Wieers, the well-known maintainer of a once very popular RPM repository, greeted me with a big smile: "Do you know CentOS?" When I introduced myself, he looked somewhat disappointed: "Oh, so you know
