Source RPM please
Hi, I''m a long ext3 user (rpmfind.net). I propagated ext3 on some of our server box (W3C webservers are ext3 based too now). I might be tempted of testing out your kernel RPMs but unavailability or the source RPM and the SMP version are definite showstoppers. Please provide them. In the meantime I will stick to my own set of kerne...

how to install ash on CentOS 5.4?
Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to install ash on CentOS 5.4, or just CentOS 5, for that matter? I'm trying to install OpenQRM which requires ash, but ash doesn't exist in the repositories. rpmfind.net als only has an older version listed, for CentOS 4 http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/search.php?query=ash&submit=Search+...&system=&arch= dag wier's repository also doesn't have it. And google didn't yield any results for CentOS 5.4. -- Kind Regards Rudi Ahlers CEO, S...

Offtopic: 3ware Raid Controllers
Hi! I know this is a little bit offtopic, but i couldn't think of any other place where i can get uninfluenced first hand information on these controllers :) I've read about and experienced data loss/system lockup with older 3ware controllers, but the 3ware Escalade 7xxx (i'm especially interested in the 7850) sounds too good to ignore it (8 channels, 8 drives, raid 0/1/5/10,

R 1.4 on Mandrake Linux 8.1
I installed the new rpm from CRAN for R 1.4 for Mandrake Linux 8.1, after getting blas and libgcc from rpmfind.net. When I do update.packages() the system goes to update grid, lattice, and mgcv. I get compile errors for two of them. Apparently R is looking for gcc 3.0.1 or later but 8.1 uses 2.9x which is required for other Mandrake applications (i.e., I get a dependency error when trying to install the...

Best way to install non-official packages?
Sooner or later everyone needs to install a package that is not included on the official installation CDs/DVD. Until now I just used rpmseek.com and Rpmfind.Net but of course this is far from optimal for security and compatibility to reasons. So what is the recommended way to get and install "non official" packages that are not part of the repository?! Thorsten

ntfs-3g
I'm looking for ntfs-3g.? I'm getting lots of hits through google, but I'm suspicious of some of the sites. The one rpm I downloaded from rpmfind wouldn't install because of some missing library.? Where's a good place to get the tarball? ??? === Al

Newbie fails to run sol.exe!
I'm running Mandrake 8.2, which comes with wine-20011226. I've used winesetuptk to configure wine with no native windows. When I run wine sol.exe I get loads of font error messages e.g. fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo DBCS fonts like '-daewoo-mincho-medium-r-normal--24-170-100-100-c-240-ksc5601.1987-0' are not working correctly now. and fixme:font:LFD_InitFontInfo font

R Install problems with Redhat 9 : "tcl.so" versus "tcl.so.0"
...ing errors: [root at localhost temp]# rpm -ivh R-1.6.2-1.i386.rpm warning: R-1.6.2-1.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 97d3544e error: Failed dependencies: libtcl.so.0 is needed by R-1.6.2-1 libtk.so.0 is needed by R-1.6.2-1 OK, I understand this so far. So I go to http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/ to get the packages. Searching for "libtcl.so.0" shows me that's it's in the tcl package. The most current one from http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/ is tcl-8.3.3-74.i386.rpm. However, after considerable gnashing of teeth, I come to discover that tcl is already on my...

Compiling Icecast2 on RedHat9 or maybe another Linux
...MS Visual studio 6 for windows then you need to get all the associated libraries for windows, yet even more work. Icecast2 specific you need the following libcurl > http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/ download > http://curl.haxx.se/download/curl-7.10.8.tar.gz libxml, libxlst > take a look over at rpmfind.net for the latest rh9 specific, be sure to grab the src rpms as well. then you will need to checkout libshout, vorbis, ogg from xiph repository. compile and install ogg first, then vorbis, then libshout. You should then be good to go for autogen.sh under the icecast2 cvs checkout directory. If...

No debug?
...heer). The problem is, when I try to start any installer.exe file, I get some rows of nonsense ("fixme pthread...blabla") and then it exits with the message that it couldn't find any debugger? I tried the winedbg +relay option, but everything ends like this. My Wine is downloaded from rpmfind.net, think it was an October version. It would be real nice to get some apps working, like some game and maybe office -97 (I understand that some of you managed to do that. Did it take a lot of "tend to"??) Back porting of ext3 to 2.2.X line
I've not seen this asked since I've been on the list; but was wondering... I'm currently sticking to the 2.2 line and have no plans to move to 2.4 right now. Is there any attempt to back port some of the changes in the newer 2.4 line back into 2.2? ext-0.0.7a.tar.gz has been stable thus far, but it's getting kind of old. NEM

Please make the journal file unmodified by user processes
Please forbid user level process to touch or unling the journal file when the partition is ext3 mounted ... at all ! So far this weakness has been my main problem when using ext3 on production systems. Happened to rpmfind machines a couple of times, at best a program removed the journal inode from the FS list and it cannot be mounted at next reboot. At worse the content of the journal.dat is modified and the machine oopses and crash. This just arrived again on one of the W3C web servers where and rsync removed it...
