/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html page out of date
Dear all, it looks like that something is wrong with the /bin/windows/base/rpatched.html page as it seems pointing to the 2.8.1rc version. R patched for Windows missing
R patched for Windows seems to be missing. If one clicks on R-2.2.0pat-win32.exe at, say, http://stat.ethz.ch/CRAN/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html then an error occurs. I tried it at several mirror sites with the same result. The web page in question says: This directory contains a Windows binary build of R including patches up to 2005-10-24.

Attn Heinz Tuechler: Re: problem with special characters (ä,ö,ü)
[I tried to send this message privately, but the return address bounced.] I think this has been fixed in R-patched, but I doubt if the fix has been tested in Win98. Could you please download a copy from <http://cran.r-project.org/bin/windows/base/rpatched.html> and confirm that it has been fixed? invalid HOMEDRIVE
Hi all- Some recent change...perhaps a windows update, or perhaps a change in the network on which I use my computer....has made it impossible for me to start R. When I try to start the program, I get a message that says "Fatal error: invalid HOMEDRIVE". Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks much Chris ******* Chris Solomon Center for Limnology Univ. of Wisconsin (715) 356-9494

[External] Re: use of the tcltk package crashes R 4.0.1 for Windows
I've committed the change to use Free instead of free in tcltk.c and sys-std.c (r78652 for R-devel, r78653 for R-patched). We might consider either moving Calloc/Free out of the Windows remapping or moving the remapping into header files so everything seeing our header files uses our calloc/free. Either would be less brittle that the current status. Best, luke On Sun, 7 Jun 2020, peter

how can I use lmer on a windows machine?
To whom it may concern: I am using R version 1.9.1 beta on a windows machine, and I am trying to use a function called lmer (in packages lme4 and Matrix). I am not sure if this version will support these packages (when I install them from the GUI, the function lmer does not work). I wondered if I need to install a newer version of R, and if so, which version should I install, and how should I

Rcmd check for Windows fails (PR#7369)
Full_Name: Harald Weedon-Fekj?r Version: 2.0 OS: Windows Submission from: (NULL) (80.202.87.143) Dear R core Thanks again for a superb program. This is really one of the rare instances I find a bug. problem with tcltk under Windows (was RE: [R] one more Rcmdrproblem)
Dear all, I'd like to use Rcmdr for teaching purposes but still have problems trying to use it under Windows XP. Everything works fine up to several minutes but then Rcmdr and R completely crash the second I hit a button or key. This indeed looks like a problem with tcltk. It is not any particular button or key that causes the crash, but using Ctrl+C to copy something to the clipboard seem the

R 2.0.0 not suffisantly reliable to be be used
After wasting one whole day, I've finally decided to stay with 1.9.1, some problems have been reported to R-Bugs. For occasional users, I would say, there's no worst thing than that: you installed the new release, and soem of your existing codes no longer work ! -- Fan
