Deliverm, vpopmail, and valias
...dspam gets sent to the delivery
server (currently running qmail) and delivered to the final destination
(modulo sieve rules under deliver). The only place I could conceivably
rewrite the address would be the second Postfix queue.

(though the log would see to seem to suggest otherwise).
I even tried setting the DEFAULT_MAIL_ENV in dovecot.conf, but that
didn't work either.
Anyone have any ideas about what I am missing?

just login, so I could confirm that it is the client process requesting
that the files be deleted and not somethink with dovecot itself (or some
hardware failure).

1.0.rc28 / v1.0 plans
I'll probably release 1.0.rc28 in a few days. Would be nice to get some
testing for it first. http://dovecot.org/nightly/dovecot-latest.tar.gz
contains pretty much what it's supposed to be.
I've now replied to all the mails I was planning on replying, excluding
the few patches that are v1.1 material. If you think I forgot to reply
to some mail, please resend it.

Speed up large maildirs
Hi,
I'm very fond of maildirs, they are simple, I like that.
But I've never really understood the significance of maildir/new/. The only use I can see is
that (for example in the case of dovecot), you'd move a message from new to cur and then
update the index-file, that's it.
So to make put it more direct, you'd know when and with what to update the index-file, based

[Fwd: Bounce action notification]
Anyone have ideas why this happened? Nothing special in logs, all
tss at iki.fi deliveries went OK. Mailman's bounce log is unhelpful. Why
does it say it tried to deliver to dovecot at dovecot.org and when it
failed it disabled my account? Why doesn't it even bother saying which
remote host gave an error? Grepping mail.log for 'This user' shows
nothing.

Replacing qmail + vpopmail with: sendmail + dovecot
Hi,
I wonder if it posible to replace qmail + vpopmail with sendmail + dovecot?
The idea is like this:
- use sendmail + milter API to filter spam/virus and deliver the email to
the dovevot MDA (LDA)
- dovecot should save the email to the directory as specified in the
vpopmail DB
- maintain the vpopmail BD (users + passwd)
- use dovecot pop3/imap for the clients
- use sendmail again to receive

Ampersand in Folder names causing folders to disappear?
Hi All,
Dovecot 1.0.rc7
Not sure if this is a problem with Outlook, or with Dovecot, or to do
with encoding in Linux.
Whenever a user enters an ampersand into an IMAP folder name, it
dissapears from outlook. These folders appear on the ext3 filesystem as
&- for example
drwx------ 5 mailusers mailusers 4096 2006-10-10 17:54 .INBOX.Networks.London Networks.NDCs.WH&-P joint working

Disable TLS on port 143?
Hi all,
Is there a way to disable the TLS support provided by Dovecot
on port 143? I'd like to run SSL on 993, so as far as I can
tell I can't use ssl_disable, since the will disable SSL.
I'm looking for the equivalent of an ssl_disable_tls
setting.
Thanks much,
Jackie

Quick question
Hi all,
I'm going to be out of office for the next week (starting in the next
hour or so) and I need to unsubscribe (I'm sure you don't want my out of
office replies really)
Can anyone help me by saving me the time it'll take to lookup the
unsubscribe/resubscribe details?
Many thanks,

test53 and signal 11 errors
I installed test53 tonight, and I've begun to see the following error
in my maillog every time I attempt to retrieve mail from an imap
client:
dovecot: child 46128 (imap) killed with signal 11
I built from source on FreeBSD 4.9 with the following:
./configure --with-mysql --with-storages=maildir --with-ssl=openssl
A little bit of Googling seems to indicate that this is a hardware

Sorry :) The last fix I made a few minutes before test54 release didn't

- Lots of fixes for mmap_disable = yes. It finally seems to be working
pretty well.
- POP3 idle timeouts changed to 10min
I just wrote a simple stress test tool for IMAP and I've had one for
POP3 for some months. The IMAP stress test was very helpful in finding
out the bugs I fixed today. If anyone wants to try them, they're in:

Server going crazy!!!
I have dovecot-0.99.11-1FC3.4. I use Pine on the server and Outlook
2003 on remote computers to access IMAP and POP3 to access via my
blackberry 7100t. It seems that after using IMAP and then going back to
pine it somehow refreshes everything and all the messages are picked up on
my blackberry once again as if the emails are new. So everything that is
in my inbox is now pushed or grabbed

Upgrade to new server question
...ion is what
version of dovecot to load.
I'm assuming that I cannot run both 0.99.14 and 1.00.x on the same
maildirs (the indexes differ?). However, is it safe for me to mount the
same maildirs from two different boxes?

Possibly fixes the mail-cache-transaction assert.
Passdb and userdb configuration changed. New format is:
passdb sql {
args = /etc/dovecot-sql.conf
}
passdb pam?{
}
userdb passwd {
}
The above would first try to authenticate from SQL database, if it
failed because user wasn't found, or password was wrong, it would then
try PAM. The same is done for userdbs.

Minor documentation bug with 0.99.14
...em
but the aforementioned doc/mkcert.sh contains these lines:
> CERTFILE=$SSLDIR/certs/imapd.pem
> KEYFILE=$SSLDIR/private/imapd.pem
either the script should be changed to reflect the sample config file or
vice versa.
