Rotary phones? (No, I'm serious)
Will the FXS cards that work with asterisk handle rotary? Are there any channel banks that can convert rotary to touch tone (like some sorta bridge)? The goal is to be able to log input from rotary phones. Full PBX functionality would be nice but... (It's for a project, not for serious production). -- // Ethan O'...

1950's UK rotary dial phone
Folks, I've got one of those GPO 1950's rotary dial phones that I'm trying to get working in the UK. I've got pretty much everything working with my TDM400, the phone rings and I can receive calls but I cannot dial with the rotary dialer. I have set pulsedial=true or whatever the exact setting is and I can dial from the phone by lifti...

Really Old Rotary Phone
Ok... I am not a telephone guy... I was born after rotary phones, so forgive my ignorance in this matter. I am trying to get a really old rotary phone up and running with an ATA. Why? Who knows... just thought it would be cool. The problem is that it does not have an RJ11 connector, instead it has three wires (green, yellow, red). Does anyone know...

Rotary phone on Asterisk
I'm trying to use a couple of old Western Electric type 500 phones (desk model, rotary dial). These phones work fine, as tested with telco lines (they dial, receiver/transmitter works fine, etc). I'm running Asterisk 1.6.2.11. I can't get them to dial through Asterisk. They are connected to a Rhino channel bank which is connected to Asterisk via a Sangnoma card (T1 with e...

Key Rotary Lines ?
Looking to install asterisk for a client and was shopping around for prices for 6 POTS lines with or an integrated T1 with voice and data. I called up Sprint and I told the sales rep that there was going to be a Phone system she said that they would have to install "key" rotary lines and then I told the rep that I needed two more lines with hunt group and she told me that would be regular rotary lines. The key rotary lines are 2$ more than regular lines and she didn't know what the difference was. Are those lines just another way for sprint to make money? Will they wo...

Tormenta 2 Card number rotary switch
Hello, I had two quad-E1 Tormenta2 cards in my system and yesterday i had to replace the CPU. I noticed the rotary switch on each card that sets the card number or ID... Both switches were set up on 0 and everything worked fine. Should i set one card to 0 and the other one to 1, or... "if it works, don't fix it!" ? I had some nightmares with IDs on Dialogic hardware with Bayonne and i don't...

TDM400 with FXS some handsets not ringing
...o the device. I have a real el cheapo handset that cost me about 9UKP. It works fine, I plug it into the Wildcard and call the channel and it rings. I have tried plugging in my BT Diverse 3016 cordless phone but it will not ring, although I can call out from it. I have also tried my GPO 332L (a rotary dial phone from the 1950's), this also does not ring however, I can pick up the phone and make a connection. Are there any limitations to the ringer on the FXS module? Is there anything I can do to make my other phones ring? Thanks, Mike.

callers who don't press any keys
...mes and eventually hang up. I'm wondering if these are wrong numbers (in that case, why don't they hang up) or they really want to speak to someone here but don't understand the menu (what's so hard about "for the operator, press zero"?). They couldn't still have rotary phones (or phones set to pulse dial), could they? I've been thinking of changing the menu so that if they don't press any keys, the eventually get the operator. Does anyone have any experience with this? -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by MailScanner...

ATA with pulse dialing support over FXS
...yone know about a simple one-fxs ATA with pulse dialing support that can work with Asterisk? A SIP one would be ok. I've been told that the Digium S101i IAXy does support pulse dialing; although it's a iax2-only ata it could be enough. I need a bunch of them to convert some old fashioned rotary phones into VoIP ones (I'd like to disassemble the ATAs to remove the boards from the plastic case and to fit them into the phones after making the appropriate changes to the phones' exterior to add holes for rj-45 socks and dc power input) Thanks. -- Alberto Pastore B-Press Srl - Gruppo...

TDM04B, trunk group
Hi, I am just trying to figure out how to setup a TDM04B card for incoming/outgoing calls. I have 4 lines, which are provided as a rotary trunk group, currently hooked into a Nortel system, which asterisk will replace. I have setup a Dell 1800 (Tower) system with the TDM04B card, which seems to work. The question is how do I set it up that all 4 lines are part of a trunk group, such that all 4 lines can be used for incoming asw...

5 Channel / Trunk ??
...question. 1. Asterisk PBX - 5 Trunks / Incoming lines 2. 1 Building - 3 Companies (sharing phone system) Ok that's the basic layout. Here's the low down - Each company will have one dedicated channel for there company. The other 2 channels they want to be set aside as rollover's (rotary). That is not an issue. Where my concern is, how can I specify if they call Company A and primary line is busy and it rolls over to one of the spare lines, how do I designate which Auto Attendant is played. If it was certain channels set aside for certain companies that would not be an issue....

Run script action when Dahdi phone goes off-hook?
...cellent. However, dialling out is impossible, as Asterisk consistently mis-reads the number of pulses the dial sends (it could be a squiffy dial, I'm not sure). Not to mention the fact that, in today's modern "want it now" age, waiting up to 3 seconds between digits whilst the rotary dial does its thing gets old very quickly... As with all Dahdi connected phones, when I lift the handset, I immediately see: -- Starting simple switch on 'DAHDI/x-y' Can I run a script (either in extensions.conf, or ael, or whatever) when that is detected? If so, I will create a smal...

Re: * compatible with Pulse dialing phones ?
...workaround? > > Thanks in advance > > Arnaud F?vrier > > > Arnaud-- I'm answering this via the users' mailing list instead of the developer's. I know they'd appreciate that, and it's a better forum for these sorts of questions. I'm using an old rotary dial phone connected to one of the 4 ports of the 4-port FXS card; it works great. I can dial, check voicemail, etc by spinning the dial and letting go. I was amazed, but pulse dialing works fine with the FXS card. The only trouble might be with # and * key functionality, I haven't investigated...

Group channel rotation for outgoing call?
Hi, If I have a PRI with all channels grouped in group=1, I understand when I want to make an outgoing call that asterisk takes the first channel available. Is there any possiblity to "rotate" the channel taken? I was searching in Wiki but I could not find nothing about. Thanks, Alejandro

Cannot get two TE410Ps to operate correctly in the same machine
...ts I was able to add the second card without affecting the performance of the first. However, the second card is not working properly. Setup ===== - Running on a Dell Server. - RedHat 8 - Asterisk 1.0 - I have two TE410Ps on that box, card 0 assigned to IRQ 4 and card 1 assigned to IRQ 3. - The rotary switch on both cards is set to 0. - I have tried setting the switch on card 1 to other than 0, but it does not work (what is the switch for??) - Both cards have 3 E1 spans and one T1, both in the same order. - Card 0 has worked well for months, and works well even now that card 1 is installed. - zt...

Reverse group in zapata.conf
Hey all, I have a situation where I have 8 lines from the phone company in a hunt group coming in to my asterisk box. These are the same lines I'm using for outgoing calls ( named g0 ). The problem arises when someone dials our number at the same time asterisk tries to put a call out on one of the zap channels in the g0 group. This has happened twice that I know of so far, once to

TDM04B
Hi, I recently got a TDM04B and after installing and getting asterisk up and running I connected a handset to one of the ports. Unfortunately I don't get a dial tone when I lift the handset. What could be the cause of this? Could someone point me in the direction of a proper config for a TDM04B? Thanks.

Not Dialing 9
When I set up my Asterisk box at home I didn't want to have to dial 9 to dial off premises, so I gave all my local phones three digit extensions with this format: 1[1,0]*. My thought is that there are no area codes that start with 0 or 1, so if I use those numbers, I can create 20 local extensions that can be dialed with 3 digits, and not have to use a timeout when dialing long distance.
