Kernel panic after install in cento6 before mounting root file system rw
I am hopelessly trying to debug a new install of 6.2 x86_64. I used the minimal install with default options. Unfortunately the screen garbles during the kernel panic. Scroll/Num lock lights are blinking. 1. Where can I find debugging steps? (tried rescue and mount to read /var/log, but no values written since it is still in RO mode) 2. Where are the keyboard blink codes documented? -Jason --

sendmail and cups gets installed although not chosen in kickstart file
I setup a kickstart file that contains only @core and several packages explicitely listed. postfix is listed, sendmail is not. And there's no package where I would think it needs cups. Nevertheless, after the install I now have postfix *and* sendmail on the machine and sendmail even being enabled. And cups is installed. How can I find out what forced them (and probably many other unwanted

security implications of caching with virtio pmem (was Re: [PATCH v3 0/5] kvm "virtio pmem" device)
...questions probably should > be addressed in the documentation, spec and possible qemu code. > I also want to note that using a disk/file as memory backend with NVDIMMs in QEMU essentially results in the exact same questions we have with virtio-pmem. E.g. kata-containers use nvdimms for the rootfile system (read-only) as far as I am aware. Conceptually, a virtio-pmem device is just an emulated nvdimm device with a flush interface. And the nice thing is, that it is designed to also work on architectures that don't speak "nvdimm". > > Severity of the security implications...

Using centos and kickstart to build a minimum installation
Using centos 5.2, I want to use a kickstart file to select packages in order to have an unattended install onto a bare-metal server. Is there any way of finding out which packages I need to compile, build and run asterisk ? I generally want to build all modules in asterisk and the wct4xxp zaptel module I want to be able to not select any groups in the kickstart file, but only select

CentOS 5.x on Geode LX
Greetings all- I'm currently working with CentOS 5.x (various version 5.0 - 5.5) attempting to run it on a system based on the AMD Geode LX CPU. There are known issues with this CPU running Centos 5, specifically those listed here: http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=2552 The kernel and system run fine on the Geode LX, but the installer detects the CPU as i586. Since there is no i586 kernel

Installing on partitionable RAID arrays
Hello Since linux 2.6, the md layer has a feature called partitionable arrays. So instead of having two disks, creating an identical partition table on both and then putting those partitions in RAID 1, you take those two disks and put them in one partitionable RAID 1 array (in mdadm terms, "mdp") and create a partition table on the new RAID device. The advantages are quite clear

Main reason for refactor is no ovirt-node-image binary image allowed in fedora. Removed ks files, now in ovirt-node-recipe, which is subpackage of ovirt-node. Removed tools, these are now in ovirt-node-recipe which is subpackage of ovirt-node.
