syncing multiple instances of code in same tree
Hi - rsync newbie here. I have a situation where I have multiple instances of CMS website code living in the same root directory and having parallel dir structures, so something like this: /my_code/root_dir/instance_1 /my_code/root_dir/instance_2 /my_code/root_dir/instance_3 each instance_n has the same directory structure and owns the same files for the most part with small isolated customer additions (image files, etc.). I'd like to sync all instances from an updated version of the code, say,...

symlink() failure in 1.2 managesieve
I've been simultaneously learning about dovecot and experimenting with the 1.2.alpha4. To start I built an rpm under CentOS 5.2 from: dovecot-1.2.alpha4.tar.gz dovecot-1.2-managesieve-0.11.2.tar.gz dovecot-1.2.alpha4-managesieve-0.11.2.diff.gz dovecot-1.2.alpha4.tar.gz dovecot-1.2-sieve-0.1.2.tar.gz and then setup with mysql to use virtual users. Mail-wise, it all works. :)

If you do not understand what it means, I strongly recommend you not to set it. Similarly, you set the root_dir option and I don't know why you did it, but it is a typo anyway (should be root.dir). mbox inbox default
...'d assumed that if the /var/mail/$USER file doesn't exist, dovecot would create it, but we've discovered from experience (and I verified it in mbox-storage.c) that if access(path, R_OK|W_OK) fails--as it does if the file doesn't exist--that dovecot defaults then to delivering in root_dir/inbox. I'm curious why this is. It seems like if the configured INBOX file doesn't exist, dovecot should create it if possible; it's a different case than if, say, the user doesn't have write access to that directory, in which case it of course would be appropriate to fall back...
